Title: 1H Weapon Suggestions + Secondary Mode Discussion!

Been trying out several 1Handers on my Horn Bow/1H hybrid. I've compiled a small and humble list of the ones I've liked so far, as well as those I'm thinking of using:

Additionally, I was wondering on the secondary modes of 1Handers, both switching from 1H to 2H moveset and changing the attack type (cut/pierce, blunt/pierce, pierce/blunt). I am looking for suggestions on which weapons have good and ACTUALLY USEFUL secondary modes, and could anyone tell me if it is better to use 1Handers with 2H mode than other 1Handers? Also what about the 2H mace or other 1 slot poles?

Oh, and general weapon suggestions for an archer/hybrid are appreciated, thanks.

If I'm correct, using a 1H weapon in 2H mode uses your 2H WPF (and vice-versa).  Someone may can verify that?

I know which weapons have secondary modes, I was just wondering about their effectiveness and potential use.
I was also wondering if using a 1H with a 2H mode is better than most other 1H. I have not tested most of these weapons, so I've been wondering about their effectiveness.

Military sickle and langes messer in 2h mode are the best for 1slot if you prefer to swing rather than stab and have no preference towards 1h animations or length. 1slot polearms are also great, but they can obscure your view when trying to shoot.

Not necessarily.  While shorter than regular 2H weapons, they do decent damage, and have good speed.  If you can get inside on a player, they can be just as effective.

To me, the main reason for these type of weapons (Military Sickle, Fighting Axe, & Langes Messer) is for 2-Handers who only have 1 slot available.  Maybe someone is a 2-Hander/Thrower, and they want 3 slots for range.  Or an Arbalest who also wants to 2H.  Or with my 2-Hander, I mainly play with a HBS.  But I like carry an axe for Shielders.  I also like to carry a suck shield for archers.  With a HBS & shield, I only have 1 slot available.  The Fighting Axe allows me to carry a 1 slot 2H axe.

To me, this is the purpose of these types of weapons.  They are not necessarily more effective.  If anything, maybe less effective for their price.  But they are more versatile.

From experience, personally I liked a hybrid of 2h/Archery. It suited me very well on both siege and battle, as you could duel proficiently while popping arrows out quickly. Once again, I used a less agi build for an archer, but once you practice and get used to the melee, it works very well.

Here we go again, tossing out a build which worked for me:
Level 31
19/21
WPF(2h): 100
WPF(Archery): 142
IF: 5
PS: 6
PD: 6
WM: 7
Items:
Weapon:
Barbed Arrows x2
Tatar Bow
Langes Messer(2h mode)

Little bit of an explanation: barbed arrows, a cheap good way to get additional extra damage but a good amount of arrows. Tatar bow, pew those arrows accurately(with practice) and quickly at your foes. Langes, probably favorite. Feels like a shorter HBS but need to get used to the stab. the PS WM and PD are self explanatory, need them all to do damage in melee or archery.

The IF can be switched for ath(on preference), but I found that it was nice to have(light armor + if = survive 1 or two hits more than without any as well as surviving 1 1/2 xbow bolts). In melee you basically have to block a lot and be a wall(since you can't usually really run out of the way) and make use of the animations and speed of swing :)

If you ever get to level 33, you can flush out basically all those stats. 21/21(7 ps, 7 pd, 7 IF(or split of ath/if))

I was also wondering: What's the best way to aim with a bow? Third person neutral, third person zoomed, first person neutral or first person zoomed?

Oh, and should I always use bodkins or should I switch to tatar/barbed sometimes?

I am using third person neutral to shoot enemies that are right in front of me (~long spear distance) and move a lot, first person zoomed to hit targets that are high above or far under me, and third person zoomed for all other purposes, i.e. the majority of shots. First person and third person view behave very differently in terms of aiming lower and higher, but both can be learned quite fast. The zoom is easier to take into account compared to third person vs. first person differences.

Tatars are nice for low armored enemies on DTV and when you want to hunt lightly armored archers in PVP. Use Barbed Arrows +3 when you bring only one quiver instead of two to move faster; they have more ammo than Tatars and Bodkins. Use Bodkins to shoot infantry soldiers, armored horses and heavily armored archers (like Blackbow lately).
