There is no unblockable attack, but a couched lance.
You can chamber a couched lance, but you cannot block it normally without a shield.

Rename the thread to "I can't dodge cav what should I do"

Rename the thread to "I can't dodge cav what should I do"

And replace all anwsers by "uninstall, scrub".

Sometimes I see a bug where cav doesn't OS people. I hope they will fix it in the next patch.

Nerf range (of bumps)

Really, it should not immobilise you so easily, or the cav swings should be a bit more difficult to execute

I'm not talking about bumpslashes, I'm talking about a swing that maybe goes over your block because the rider is above you?

If a rider slashes above you it won't hit you, no matter whether you are blocking or not. If it hits you, you missed your block, missed your attack or you got bumped.

Right attack on horse = left block on foot.

Or you could wiggle around until you hear a "ploink" sound.

I don't think any mauls can be used on horseback, if they do they would be tough to land anyway.

No, most likely because the attacks coming from the horseback look somewhat unusual and confusing for you, probably need some practice before you can align your blocks better.

As for crushthrough, no weapon can do that from horseback. And besides, why would you need it when bumpslash practically gives you the same effect?

Bumpslash is even more efficient since you land the hit no matter what. (Assuming you know your timing)
While crushthrough is not a 100% chance.

Assuming that you're infantry, bring a cav fighting weapon if you have extra slots (hell, some spears are 0 slot)

You probably mean some spears are 1 slot.
Actually, yes, there's almost no reason not to bring a (shortened) spear with you in battle.

A 1h cav can ride past you and hit your back sometimes. It depends.

What kills me the most when dealing with 1h cav is the "ghostreach"... I know, I know, there is technically none but the animations on horseback extend further then 1h on foot or something. I can reliable dodge 1h on foot but whenever I think "That cav dude is too far away to hit me..." I die shortly after that thought.

While cRPG is already a game of "trust your eyes at your own peril," cav slashes are particularly mysterious.

Worth repeating:
Right attack on horse = left block on foot.

Right attack on horse can be blocked with both left and right block as long as you angle it right.

I swear I once blocked it with my forehead!

W/ cav, it's different from a left swing from infantry, because even though you block their right swing w/ your left block, their speed causes the hit to land when they are already moving past you and it hits your back like San pointed out. I think the way to make sure your block works is to "face" the cav as they go by. You can't trust that your block will work like it normally would.

The man doth notice mine favorite dastardly move.

You pilferers of reason are the scrubs.

If you do an over head swing and release as you go past you bean them in the back of the head because it is coming in from behind. It looks very much like an unblockable attack to the person getting slapped in the head. It is however very hard to do and requires you to ride through a potential attack before swinging so it's very risky where as a bump slash/stab is far easier.

I quit trying to block cav (I actually quit blocking in general but this has different reasons)
You block one, another comes from behind and bumps you,if you fail to roll, a 3rd one comes and couches you. Fuck this I rather attempt to kill the motherfucker. If i kill, 1 less asshole to deal with, if i die i would just reach the inevitable end sooner .

Try chambering couches and jumpslashing 1handers (assuming you are using manly, short non stabby weapon)  Block is overrated, especially against cav.

He speaks the truth. I think I have like 500 hours on the back of a horse and counter attacking cav is always a better way to go. If you try and block cav that no what they are doing you're already dead.

And with spears you just need a good bit of armour on the horse, you slow down to sub rear speed and walk into them and fuck them in the mouth a pointy little sword, wait I mean cock.

excuse me for not reading through the thread to make sure someone knows what youre talking about specifically... but I've noticed strange 'hit box or hit detection' when someone is mounted and does a right swing (also awkwardly high right swing might i add) if youre standing completely behind the horse and even on the OTHER side, that one swing seems to do a full circle and become unblockable. I usually don't feel like i can give much legit evidence to something like this because my ISP is a complete fuckball so..  :?

That's much more a case of the developers failing to add in a realistic/accurate model for that particular horse/weapon combination (see below):

Inaccurate representation, 2.4/10.

We all know the morningstar IS the rotor, hence the super far ghost reaching that hits you at 360 degrees in any direction.
