Title: Pokemon Alpha ruby & Omega saphire announced
Post by: Gravoth_iii on May 08, 2014, 09:34:54 pm

I always found the 3rd gen to be the best, dunno if anyone here agrees with this but im pretty hyped for this. Might have to get a 3ds for this >_>

is that because you played 3rd gen first? 3rd gen was last pokemon I played as a "kid", but even then the childhood magic of it was wearing off. I only played it because phoenix had it, he must have been like 8 lol

anyway at least this remake will envolve quite alot of work, 3d modelling and animations hundreds of pokemon. whereas previous remakes were basically just slightly changing 2d sprites;

I'm still fucking upset about how they removed ability to start a new game at all without deleting existing save (in pkmnXY). its such a joke ontop of 1 save slot & multiple versions of the same game. nintendo way worse than EA.

PS: pls convince phoenix in TS to buy this game so I can play it once hes finished with it

I started with Blue/Red and stopped with Gold/Silver on GameBoy Colour. But I played 3rd gen on pc and smartphone as well (even now and then I still do).
First 3 gens are fine for me but anything after that just looks awful.

I would actually like to buy those but first I would need a new gameboy... ^^
Smartphone is sadly not strong enough to run those. Cant even play white/black on S4.

there isnt a 3ds emulator yet anyway, I spent alot of time looking for one for XY but its all smoke and mirrors.

you need to get yourself a younger brother or cousins, I got my DS for free once they got the slim version etc.

Get this fucking game, its damn well made. The pokemon games are actually improving quite nicely graphically, gameplay is also great, lots of fancy new stuff.

Best pokemon games are Crystal and Heartgold/Soulsilver.

Only pokemon game with multiple regions all with their gym leaders and endgame boss Red.

I always liked 3rd gen the most. Best music, much random shit to do, getting to the regi-trio was a cool mystery involving having to use the manual to translate some weird stuff and doing some cryptic shit. 2nd gen had the best pokemon but 3rd adds pretty nice ones aswell.

3rd Gen is also the last one i played that felt like a classic, the only downside for me was that compared to Gold/Silver the game was very short and small, i'll never forget the first time i 'completed' silver and discovering that i could go to an entire different map that was packed full of nostalgia, what a game!

The Alpha Ruby and Omega Sapphire remakes are taking it 3D, maybe it's the nostalgia goggles talking but i prefer top-down. It means when you enter a town or city you can see where you are and where you're going, seeing everything from a side-on angle makes cities weird to navigate, not sure if i like it. Also, the new way that exp-share works makes the games too easymode IMO, even though i always struggled to keep a team of 6 at good level without grinding before, exp-share really removed a dimension, i know you can opt to not use it but since it's there they just put easymode temptation in everyone's path.

*edit*
That's still one of my fave pokemon memories, without searching online just randomly finding that cave with braille in, translating it and completing the challenges (including getting a pokemon i'd never heard of before), then finding the random locations to get those awesome pokemon. Easily the best executed 'legendary' pokemon in a pokemon game to date.

Its still top down for the most part, at some locations it angles towards a building to show the entire thing etc but other than that its just like any other game from what ive noticed.

Im still amazed at how every pokemon seems to have a couple of unique animations shown in fights, considering there are around 700 pokemon this is pretty crazy.

Omega ruby, not really sure why since the pokemon that are unique to saphire are the ones i prefer (mega Sableye looks pretty sick). I guess its because i originally had the ruby game so have to see the changes to Groudon's caves n stuff.

digimon was only good when there was no pokemon, and its competition was the tamagochi. thats when digimon was epic. both cartons sucked.

Started working on the Regi mystery again, completely forgot most of it but some scattered parts. Pretty exciting.

Being hooked up to wifi i can find people's secret bases all over the world constantly and enter to see what theyve made inside, pretty fancy i can even fight their npc version with whatever pokemon they had when they last visited the base. Also getting a bunch of "mirage spots" from being onlin, otherwise its one daily, and they can sometimes take me to islands that have legendaries on them, sweeeeet.

Also beat the main mission and the Delta mission (the one including rayquaza) and i feel its been improved quite a bit.

Dug out my copy of Soul Silver recently for nostalgia.

Got a sweet dream team going, but i'm open to suggestions on how to minmax a little bit more (I tryhard in pokemon, optimise everything). My team so far:
Sunkern
Magby
Unknown
Dunsparse

I plan to catch a Corsola, and my main man Delibird to learn fly later. I call them 'The Unbeatable 6' because they have everything you need, not to brag or anything but I already have 1 badge!

All those with only 1 badge? Im impressed. Delibird is pretty legit.
