Title: Anyone experience in making custom crosshairs?
Post by: Ikarus on May 05, 2014, 12:02:40 am
Because I´ve been tinkering around a bit with the ui_gadgets file lately, but if I open it in photoshop (with addon for dds files), I can´t see any crosshairs in it :I

I´d love to make an alternative crosshair :>

Thanks for the help, blackbow!

For everbody: the solution was simple. You only have to open the ui_gadgets.dds file in photoshop as usual, but you go to your "Channels" and switch on the "Alpha1"-channel; now you should see the crosshairs clearly and can alter them!

EDIT: okay, the next problem is now how to save the DDS file properly without getting white boxes
(click to show/hide)

What compression format are you using?

Check the original, it's probably DXT 3 or 5.

Wow you´re right, I was using DXT1, it works with both 3 and 5 now, thanks a lot

But how can I check the originals compression format?

I use openbrf tbh, though GIMP/photoshop should tell you.
