Title: The downgrade of my character
Post by: BillTRankill on May 18, 2011, 11:48:04 am
Hi there,

I haven't been connected to CRPG website for a few monthes.

Today, I wanted to play again, and even to try Strategus.
My first impression was to note a great improvement in the website design : congratulations !

However, I was upset to see that my character lost some levels and some equipements :(
It seems also that Strategus is down.

=> Did I miss many things in the past monthes ???

Yes, there's been a lot of changes like the blue slot system, new xp gain system. You probably should see the different patch threads to fresh up on all the new stuff.

And about the missing items. Some items were taken away from the game. Dunno about the lost levels.

Also welcome back!

Yes, many things

The missing level comes from the jannuary patch, xp had been recalculated, there is a soft cap at lvl30 and hard cap at 35 (so make a build for lvl 30).
Also there is now a upkeep system, start to play with low gear to see how it work (otherwise you will lose lot of money).
There is now a system that allow you to jump directly to level30, but this means that you must delete all your alt and have only one char.

Check the "announcement" in the forum for more info.

You forgot to say that a "Skip the fun" character also can't level up and retire, he stays at level 30 forever.

More whine and QQ really, that's the biggest change.

I wonder what caused that.

There's a hard cap at 35?  Sigh.  So there's very little point in not doing "Skip the Fun" and going straight to 30?

Sounds like cRPG is slowly evolving.. back into Native.

But.. okay, okay - I just came back recently after a long absence, and no Strategus at the moment.. so to be fair that's a pretty huge difference.  I remember it being amazing fun in the early days, and I'm pretty sure that it will be even better when it comes back.

Still, my dreams of reaching level 45.. dashed to bits :(

Sorry to break it to you, but that hasn't been possible for quite a while now, for fairly obvious reasons.

But I want to be a horse archer in full plate on a plated charger that shoots perfectly accurate

It's been.. quite a long time since I played.  Back in the olden times I think it was possible, indeed.. not really implausible if you planned to play for a while.  But that was back when retirement first came out, and then the bonuses were so huge that almost no one would opt to not do it.

Yeah, that was over half a year ago, quite a lot of things have changed since then. Even with all the rebalancing it's still a far cry from Native, despite what the various doomsayers pining after their OP megabuilds might tell you. :P

Has the hardcap been approved anywhere? Dont think so it will just take ages to reach 290.000.000 xp..

Well.. I'm still hoping the powers-that-be will someday focus on the eternally-neglected area of balance accounting for different levels of skill.

I'm not very good, so I figure I need an extra 10-15 levels to put me on equal footing with more talented players.

We desperately need cRPG-handicap ratings! :P

I don't speak English fluently. Could explain what QQ means ?
By the way, thank you all for your replies. I think I'm going to concentrate on solo native game.

QQ (internet slang) = complaining/whining/crying bitterly over a computer game

QQ is someone crying (basically a smiley representation of "cry moar")

EDIT: Ninja'd by Keshina :(

If you retired you'll have some heirloom points to spend. There's also a fun new mode called "Defend the Village" where a team of humans has to survive against increasingly difficult waves of bots. (imagine defending a castle/village in native but all the soldiers on your team are real people) I hope to see you in there one day ;)

Yeah, many changes, but the mod has never been so awesome, with great features, new ideas, and balance.

Some will QQ, but the big majority understanded that changes were needed for the mod to have a long life and endless fun!

Thank you all !

You rock !

I may give a try to CRPG again in the coming days. Defense of the village sounds great :)

Maybe see you there (I will play on European servers) !
