Here's my 2h build so far. I'm about to hit lvl 30, where I'll have 3 Attributes Points and 3 Skills Points. So the main question is... do I go 27/12 or 24/15. This character was originally a 2h 18/21 build. I liked it, but want to try a STR build, because I never had. Honestly, think I like the 18/21 better... as play style goes. But I suck at blocking. So the STR build does allow me to get a few kills here and there that I probably would not get with more AGI.
All that to say, 24 Str and 8 PS seems plenty. But would still, would 27 Str & 9 PS been that much better? Or would I benefit from the extra WPF? It does seems folks swings are quicker than mine now. But I suck anyways, and can't block either way, so whatevs! Don't think Athletics is as a big as factor as I thought. While I'm seem noticeably slower, it doesn't seem to really effect me that much. That may be do to the fact that I didn't know how to take advantage of 7 Ath with my 18/21 build.
Anyways, what do you guys suggest? Is 27 Str & 9 PS overkill? It will also provide 7 more hp, as I'll have 3 more Str and will put 2 points to IF.

I suggest you try 30/9 or even 36/3 with 0 ATH and heavy armor, you will maybe see if it becomes too overkill for you and then slowly add more agi on top of less str until you find your sweet point.

I did 27 15 retiring at level 32 for 2h, easiest gen I've ever done.

What weapons will you be intending on using? Mallets and mauls like your namesake suggests? In that case, I'd recommend 27-12.
If you're trying to use swords, 24-15 is preferable.
If you're using axes and misc. blunt weapons and random shit, I'd say 24-15, but it's more up to personal preference at that point. Make a skip the fun and give both builds a shot to be sure.

i prefered 24/15 for the extra speed against high agility players. and the damage from 24 str is pretty good 27 isnt that much of an improvement

I did a gen as plate 2h greatsword with 27/12 build. Swing speed was plenty fast, but movement speed was too slow for me. It felt like I spent 3/4 of each round plodding towards my enemy before I could finally fight. As long as it doesn't bother you, 4 ath is okay.
High PS builds are really good with crushthrough weapons. Especially if you're defending a castle in siege or strat. You can just sit tight at ladders or doorways and bonk enemies forever.
Personally I would go for 24/15 or 24/18 with mid to heavy chain mail rather than plate. Decent move speed is just as good for survival as ironflesh is. Ducking out of combat or retreating can save you from situations where more HP just means you get your shit slapped for 5 seconds instead of 1 and then die anyway because you are in the middle of an enemy mob spamming you. Dodging ranged and cav is easier the faster you are as well.
I am doing a high level gen as 24/21. I use polearms, but the combo of high PS and fast swings/footwork let you deal devastating blows. 8 PS with a high speed bonus is enough to one-shot many players. 24/18 is possible at level 30 if you skip ironflesh, but if more HP fits your playstyle better than running faster go for it.
