Title: Question for devs: How many hours have people spent playing crpg in total?

The crpg launcher gets around steam, so steam doesnt log the time in crpg if you use it. You guys have server-side info on how much time people have spent playing? Would love to know :)

I don't personally have access to any stats like that, but I can tell you, I heard for the first time about a person who has over 100 generations on his account. He had 80+ gens on one character and around 125 in total. Assuming he retired his characters at 31(multiple were level 32 when I checked), that's roughly 1,150,000,000 experience. Anyone care to calculate that out in hours, assuming that at least 75% of that experience was gained without double xp.

i've done the calculations, and it's come back that he had 15 and a half hours playtime, pretty impressive

ugh I'm not sure I really wanna know how much time I wasted on this

I got some 1,8k on steam and it's easily twice that much now

Played 1200 h in my first year of Warband. Since I started with cRPG until now I think I played more then 6000 hours.

I dunno if the numbers might be considered intellectual property or commercially sensitive now that they're making their own game (we made a mod with 1000yrs total play time, buy our game/invest in us), but it must be a seriously impressive amount.

New player's time on this mod must be around 15 mins before they realize it's not even worth it to play an unknown mod from an unknown game. Would explain a lot of things.

Played since beta release, play many times a week, usually every day, have only taken a month's break two Summers in a row, gods know how many hours it amounts to.. And it was MB all the time before that. This series sort of took over my Total War obsession.

Warband is maybe in the top 20 for games played on Steam. I wonder if they just use instances of the games launched via steam gui for that, or if they have a deeper way of measuring when exes that were bougbht through steam are running. If the former is true, then crpg playtime could affect the total amount considerably.

i can't even remember what i played before warband, i'm pretty sure it was company of heroes though

this game has consumed me ..

i've taken ~~ 2 months off every summer since i started playing it, but every time there's been an 'indoors day', there i've been, raging away :D

I probably got the saem ~ 1800hr of Warband, and maybe about +3000hrs cRPG

I mostly launch steam warband while playing cRPG to see how many hours I've spent in it.
At my beginning of crpg I ran it without steam, so that I come on around 3-4k hours.

Too much!!!!!!!!!!!!

If someone who runs steam warband while playing crpg could post their hrs and number of gens across all characters we could make some kind of estimation, at least among people in the thread.

Highest gen I ever got was 2 (though after deleting those chars my highest gen is now 1). I estimate I still have about 5k hours though.

The sad truth is that too many of the people here really wasted a good amount of their life time. If we say that in one year you have about 5600 hours of free time and take that as an example of time played, than that's more than 1% of your entire life time and now calculate that for all your games combined.

Time to do something better...

Well. You can easily estimate anyway.

For example, on an average 21 hours per week for 4 years:
21*52*4 = 4368 hours

Or 3 hours per day for 4 years:
3*365*4 = 4380 hours

I doubt that.. even 8k sounds impossible. 10k in 4 years would mean almost 7 hours every single day, not possible.

Life is full of downtime.

Like sleeping, if you lived to be 67 you would effectively (with an average ~8 hours sleep cycle) have spent 23.45 years in bed, meaning you only "lived" 43.6 years of your total of 67.
.. or sitting in traffic, which is about ~48 hours every year in the US.
.. waiting in line is about ~1 hour every day, which amounts to 2/3 years of your life.
.. you spend about a year of your life sitting on the toilet.
.. with an average work week of 40 hours you spend about 10.3 years of your life working.
.. average American watches TV for 2.8 hours a day, amounting to 80486 hours (~9.18 years) in total.

Life is nothing but a series of moments, the rest is downtime :D I'd prefer some of that downtime to be gaming rather than the other stuff then!

that said i'd rather play crpg instead of watching stupid TV that brainwashing you with idiotic arguments.
Sometimes i am forced to watch it sadly and it's outstanding how many people out there is still watching THE BIG BROTHER , seriously....at least show boobs but all you get is blabbering and fighting and wtf staged things.
NO , i prefer to nudge random virtual characters in crpg , thanks.

thb I consider 8 hours of my day spent in the office at work the biggest time waste of the day...

i played this in first year for at least 5 hours a day,sometimes 8-10 hours easily. I spent a lot of time in singleplayer,and at least 3k hours in multiplayer.
Saddest thing is after spending this much time on one game i am still noob. :D

Possible. I got a steamfriend, he got around 700 hours in Borderlands 2 BUUUT!
Now ~10500hours in Killing Floor! I cant remember the release date of KF2 but it seems possible...
