Title: Cold Showers - Join the fun!

So, since my water heating system in my flat broke again, and I'm tired of fixing it myself, and there's no way I'm gonna spend a lot of money on letting it be replaced by a pro, there is only one solution left:

Cold Showers.

They are healthy, they make you strong, and you're badass.

The vid boils down to: If you can’t do something uncomfortable and difficult for 5 minutes in the shower – how the hell are you going to do something uncomfortable or difficult in real life?

I tried it yesterday for the first time. It's a horrible feeling in the beginning, but after you get out of it, you feel.. amazing.

So there is this thing called the 30 day cold shower challenge. One cold shower per day. I'm going for it. Join me.
I'll post my results on 24th of may.

Oh this is easy!

In hawaii I sweat inside my house just sitting at the PC because we have no AC here and its common for it to be 80 degrees outside after the sun goes down...

Cold showers erryday!  8-)

I already do a cold bit when I am done but that's probably more like half-cold since the hot shower before heated me up.
I like the idea. Will see tonight if I am willing to do it :D

It's alright, just open a new 72-hours Kickstarter campaign for "additional costs of M:BG in order to make it an even better gaming experience". We'll understand.  :wink:

I lived in a souterrain 1room flat with the shower at the end of a 20m hallway through the cellar.  Never had warm water there,  did my workouts at 5am in the gym next door,  then jumped nakid through the cellar,  took a cold shower while the whole place was blasting of deichkind,  then off to university at eight.  best way to wake up,  I am sure you can pull through if you dont have the option of warm water! especially now where summer is coming : )
since I live in a comfy house I never shower cold anymore QQ...

Cold water doesn't get you clean in the long run. Get your water heating fixed and then end your normal(hot not warm) showering like a man with switching to cold for a minute. Seriously, get it fixed or you'll look like a bum soon.

Brrr, count me out. I'll be enjoying a warm shower thinking about your struggles chadz. On the other hand ice bathing a couple of mins then jump into a hot pool is amazing.

I guess I already completed a 150 day cold shower challenge or something. I always take cold showers in summer because then its just refreshing, and the water temperature is like 15 degrees anyway. Two years ago I decided to just keep doing it. You always hear these stories about people who swim in a lake every morning and aren't too bothered by it even in the winter just because they do it every day. Also, my skin doesn't deal too well with hot water. I definitely got more comfortable with it, none of that jerky breathing shit that happened at first. However cold will still be cold, it will never become comfortable even if you do it every day.  As it becomes winter the temperature of the water does noticably decrease, it's just a few degrees but a degree is a lot when it comes to showering. I don't think they made me particularly strong or bad ass, mostly just rather cold. Actually kinda hurts in winter. I finally budged at the start of januari and god did that first gust of warm water feel good.

In any case, starting in spring is bitch mode because it is all uphill from there. You gotta start in autumn.

Meh, never noticed any of that, I use washcloths though. Switching too cold from normal, now that is a terrible thing in winter.

Don't think I've read that anywhere. When I start noticing that, I might consider fixing it and showering warm once a week.

I often turn my water to the coldest for 5 minutes before I'm done showering. After a workout I target the nozzle at the areas I worked out and notice my muscles feel less sore the next day, and I feel I have more energy throughout the day and feel less inclined to be lazy.

Also I think after you wash your face with warm water, it's good to splash some cold on it. The warm opens to pores to wash out the dirt and oil, and the cold closes them back up.

It probably depends on how long your hair is. Washing your hair with cold water is a bitch; had to do that for some time. Guess you could do the cold shower thing if you wash your hair seperately with hot(Wasserkocher?) water.

Hot showers are literally one of the best things about modern civilization. You don't realize how heavenly it is until you no longer have access to it. If civilization broke down and I somehow managed to survive the subsequent chaos and anarchy, hot showers is one of the things I'd miss the most.
You can use cold water like some sort of barbarian if you like. I'm going to make the most of hot running-water while I can.

I couldn't figure out how to change to warm water when I was showering in Germany once, so I showered with cold water. When that ice-cold water showered over my head it felt like it was slowly crippling me. That was the worst shower I've ever had. #Neveragain

In the morning, it's best to shower by switching cold and hot stream of water that way stimulating blood flow. But it's a hassle so most people just use warm water.

Edit: Cold water is brrrr... Chafz if you want, I can come and fix your pipes so that warm liquid again start (over)flowing :wink:

Have nothing to add really, but just for the sake of spamming, here is a quick shower advice: If you dont live alone - check the bottles before "borrowing" someone's shampoo :) My favorite Fructis shampoo ran dry, so i took one of many bottles my wife is using - turned out to be a body-cream-scrub-whatever. DIdn't form any foam, and made my hair all oily and thick...
Tbh, I have been doing it for a while now, i keep forgetting to buy that stupid shampoo for a couple of weeks, so i just take a little from every bottle we have in the bathroom :D

For a few years now I've been doing regular washing routine in (rather) hot water, and then do a minute or so of very cold water to finish it off. Feels great. Don't think I'll start doing the whole shower ice cold though.

Teeth gets really warm water if the coldest his showers go is 15 celsius.

In summertime and I never measured it. Perhaps I have very shallow piping but I find completely cold showers pleasant in summer. I have swam in 15 degrees before and it is quite cold and the shower water doesn't feel nearly as cold. Hard to compare, I should measure it.
