I always wonder why do the guys demonstrating this simulate recoil.

Or rather, I wonder how are they going to implement it. Also I have doubts whether such a setup would be good for things that require steady aim.

I actually tried the cyberith a few months ago on a game fair in vienna. It was... well, not a really immersive experience. The whole walking felt more like dragging ground with your feet.

But the guy seemed super motivated and enthusiastic, so he might have done lots of improvements by now.

I would ditch the magnetic surface thing and replace it with a camera that tracks your feet movement.

All these "new-age" accessories don't really appeal to me. I don't become immersed, just irritated by the slow response time. Like the wii-mote, PS move, kinect, occulus rift. There is just too much lag time for me. It gives me a head-ache.
