Title: Give Torch Bonus Against shields

Cause its a flaming stick and shields are wooden. I should be able to burn the damn things.

Makes sense.  Torches should do insane damage to siege equipment.  Enough to make it worth the risk and a valid Strategus tactic .

Just increase the strat cost of torches and that would be cool.

Seeing a torch brigade in action would melt my heart. Even better if it was a night time sally.

If cleaver have freaking bonus against shield, why not torch?!

(PS make 2h secondary mode possible on torch please)

You wouldn't want to hold a torch with two hands.  It forces you to keep the flame closer to your body.  Try holding anything with 1 hand, and then 2 and you'll see what I mean.  It also places the top hand closer to the flame.

These are great ideas. :idea:  We should have a couple more items that give off light. Maybe a staff with a flame at the top. We can call it a brazier or what ever they used back in the day to guide troops in the dark.

Take torch, bite the wooden shield - fast spam - result - torch is broken, shield not ;d

Stupid idea, better is add to torch stay by fire furs and others material in armor - kuyak have a fur, heraldic mail have tabard - this element can stay by fire ;d

First, post this in realism section.

Second, it's a freaking club -- that's hot.  It would maybe scorch the pain on the shield.  How on earth you expect to set a board of wood on fire by beating it with a torch is beyond me.

If you held the burning torch right against a shield for like 20 mins, it may start to scorch and weaken the wood.  Just hitting it repeatedly would do nothing.  Giving torches shield breaking bonus is really, really silly.

its fire yes, but a shield doesnt burst into flames just because you hit it with a torch lol

Maybe the Crpg torches can be infused with napalm which sets your opponents on fire. The only way to put the flame out is to jump in water.

A small DoT effect on doors, gates, and some siege equipment would be neat. I tried breaking down a door with a torch yesterday and was probably dealing less than 3% per hit. Just tweak what we have for the flaming katana, only making it last for a short time/reduce hp reduction only against those objects. Compared to an axe, it still probably won't be too useful.
