Title: Remove higher break chance for arrows and increase their price
Post by: Nordwolf on March 28, 2014, 05:48:11 pm
I think it's fair, I lose more money on my archer than on my cavalry guy, with a double upkeep difference. Yes I'm having valours, but I'm meantioning the times when I'm not carrying.

Proposed values:
Bodkins: 5058 >> ~11500
Tatars: 2899 >> ~7400
Barbed: 1640 >> ~4800
Arrows: 161 >> ~410

Not really sure about exact numbers, but you get the idea.

Wouldn't doubling the price offset removing the double break chance?

Your suggested values more than double the price of arrows meaning archer upkeep would increase.....

He doesn't really care about archers, since, as he did not mention, his archer is an alt, while his cavalry is a main.
I also don't understand why bringing a change that would result in no difference can actually be thought as a good suggestion.

He's also carrying as a Crpg player. Please support Nordwolf. I'll go jungle.

So, bodkins would be more than the bows themselves ?

Wouldn't it be easier to just lower upkeep costs for arrows?

I don't know exactly how break chances work, but it's certainly not double for me. The point of this suggestion is to bring archers to the same line with other characters, and by that I mean decrease their upkeep costs.

My horse in worst cases repairs 2 rounds out of 10, arrows on my archer usually get repaired 7/10 times. And those are not just numbers from the top of my head, I earn more money on every my character regardless of valours, I just mentioned cavalry as the char with the highest upkeep.
He doesn't really care about archers.
I'm sorry but that's just not true, if I didn't care I wouldn't post this.

I don't know either the formula.
But i do know that you can only carry a single horse every round, while you can have two quivers of bodkin arrows per round (wich effectively double the chance of your bodkins arrows breaking).
I don't know how many arrows your character used when you did your research, but if you carried two, and one (since it's the max) broke 7/10 rounds, then, maybe a single quiver would have needed repairs 3.5/10 rounds. So effectively, less than twice as much as your horse.

So doubling the upkeep on arrows and removing extra breaking chances for them, would then be an increase in archery upkeep.
