Title: Banner Discrimination
Post by: Porthos on March 27, 2014, 06:11:00 am
Hello
Yesterday, 2014/03/26 I've got a message contained two words: 'inappropriate banner'.

So let me explain - I played with my Hello Kitty banner since February 17th:
(click to show/hide)
(click to show/hide)
And yet before I used very similar banner since 07th of October till New Year:
(click to show/hide)
(click to show/hide)

So after half of year you gave me that crappy message. May I ask you WTF? I mean, as I said, I'm using more or less the same banner almost half of year, AND HOW ON EARTH YESTERDAY IT IS BECAME INAPPROPRIATE? I have 20 people in my clan, who joined just to wear it, and they certainly don't think it is 'inappropriate'. Unfortunately I can't upload my banner right now because my pc has burned, but when I recover it I am going to upload my Kitten banner again and again and again and again until you explain what's the matter. Cheers.

I wouldn't do that if I was you. You'll lose the banner slot too if you keep uploading it again after it's been deleted.

Thank you for an advice, but you've better show me the line in the rules, that I crossed with uploading Hello Kitty banner. And explain me how this banner suddenly became offending after a months of usage. Thanks.

Someone probably died and vented their nerdrage into convincing an admin to disable your banner ("HURH RHURH HE BROKE MY IMMERSION")

A shocking amount of cRPGers seem to be allergic to fun.

The rule regarding banners is that is has to fit the theme of this mod. Your banner is not offending, it's inappropriate for the game. It was deleted "suddenly" after months of usage since we only have one person (not me btw) moderating the banners and enforcing the rule. It sometimes takes quite a while.

Bring back Hello Kitty and Tuxedo banners!

It would be far superior to allow individual players that felt that their immersion or experience was harmed to disable certain banners, and replace them with appropriate banners, than to punish the majority of the community that doesn't give a fuck about them.

Also I am gay may I take your order?

It would be far superior to allow certain individuals to override the banners in their local folders to see dics, cats, poop, cars, naked bitches as banners instead of forcing the community to witness ones lack of any and taste'n'refinement coupled with inability to choose banner both witty and appropriate to the theme.

Did I do this rite?

Well this mod was a realistic nerdy game with a medieval theme. So your banner wouldn't be appropriate but today we have guys wearing japanese helmet, russian armor, european greaves and gauntlets as armor and using persian war axe as weapon at the same time so i have no reason to alow a hello kitty banner. Besides it's cute. Loved your new "censored" version though.
I seriously wouldn't want it to be permitted if we still had the game we were playing where everyone roleplays a single faction and going all thematic and shit but since it is just a hack'n slash mayhem i mean who gives a shit let the man have his kitten !

Your only argument is that you had it for a few months, I think you noticed yourself that its not enough. I dont know who's in charge of the banner moderation, but there is indeed a moderation and banner like yours are removed when they feel like it. A warning would be nicer, but overall the rule has been stated pretty clearly many time in the past : put a medievalish banner or you risk losing it.

And of course, people complaining when the banner ban hammer strikes are cool and shit and completely hetero.

I loved your banner though    reminded me of the tuxedo in the "quality out of place" banners

6 months is not the same as 'few months', but a half of year. But, not the essence. It's not my 'main argument'. I checked everywhere and find no clear statement about flag, regarding the mandatory about its medieval thematic, and that's why I asked Son of Odin to provide me any link. Look:
(click to show/hide)
So, we are talking about a 'rule' which is not even existing in any official regulations/system messages/offical warnings etc. So it is a kind of rule, that I should known by default somehow, like if it is would be a sort of knowledge given to me from birth, or kind of thing which is needless to say...

Alright then, but if it is a 'rule', then it should be the same for everyone. And that's why I named this topic "banner discrimination", because it can be described correctly only with this word. If you take a quick look at the ladder, you will find at least 10 banners, which isn't fit the theme of this mod along with mine. But, if that mysterious admin doing his job in the way, when he removes ONLY my banner, I do not find this to be fair. Where is the logic? For example, look at the Pixer Paladins banner. It is painted in a non-medieval manner, and yet this banner exists at least over the year. Yet please don't get me wrong, I feel fine with Kafein's banner, and do not want it to be terminated, but in the same time this making no sense to me at all. Or how does it work? The cartoonish unicorn with a bow is ok, but the hello kitty is way too much. Okay, I can give my kitty a bow too, and then that admin would be satisfied?

Come on, this is ridiculous, I have much more arguments than this about why my banner should stay, and I can't imagine any argument about why my banner should be removed. My point of view is that admins should remove only offending banners, like porn or chocolate chip cookie-related ones. Maybe something disgusting like this:
(click to show/hide)
Though I think that the same things could mean a 'bad taste' for ones, and 'unusual sense of humor' for others. So my final conclusion is that we need to play the actual game, instead of looking for something to annoy the others.

p.s. sorry for my usual cracky english

So, Pikachu gets to run free but Hello Kitty doesn't?

Free Kitty White.

Edit: Just noticed how old this thread was. Oops. That'll teach me for browsing topics without looking at the daye.

Yeah, my Yoshi banner just got banned. If I used one of just an egg would that be more appropriate? Or are you just going to chocolate chip cookie my clan to extinction?

I would understand it if the mod was fresh and filled with new players. But we know each other for years now and play this mod more for shits and giggles (and rage) than "appropriate banners". Banners btw don´t save the immersion when you got incredibly bad maps in the rotation which rather give you the immersion of being in some weird japanese game show (Takeshis castle woo!) than the dark age :/

Don´t take us the fun away, we are the people who play this mod. Please tell the responsible moderator to bring the removed banners back, thank you

...so I've made the medieval related one:
(click to show/hide)
But of course, nothing is easy when someone is mad:
Quote
inappropriate banner - no bright pink
So wtf agan? Where is that bright pink on my banner? The background colour is not bright at all:
(click to show/hide)
So can anyone explain me what's the matter? I agree that the clothes details are bright, but they are small and they are not bigger or brighter than the blue and pink details on this banner which is acceptable for ages:
(click to show/hide)
And ffs why the bright pink isn't allowed? Bright blue, bright red, bright yellow is okay, but not pink -  :?: :?: :?:
Look at this:
(click to show/hide)
Pink color wasn't forbidden even back then in the past. So what's happening today? Modern middle ages witch hunt? Fucking annoying shit I've made 10 banners already and not a single person in game was concerned with how it looks, but one madmin just does not desist to harassing me. Now, if I'll desaturate my banner completely, then he will delete it with a reason "inappropriate banner - the outlines are too thick" or something like that, I swear
p.s. The banner is re-uploaded in current version until someone tells me how looks the proper-crpg-not-so-bright-pink color.
