Title: Help a newbie with his first Strategus battle!
Post by: Khako on March 21, 2014, 09:56:55 pm
I'm being attacked for my 4k silver in goods. Do I just stop moving until the battle happens? I'm not even going to bother to defend since I am unarmed and heavily outnumbered. Edit: I'm going to defend to get some Strategus experience, could anyone relay me information on how the troop numbers affect the battle? He has 523 to my 100. Does peasant gear also include the basic bow and arrows?

You're stuck in place until the battle ends, if you lose you'll be teleported to the European side of the map and lose all of your items.  However, you will not lose any silver.

You're better off in EU anyways.  It's harder to find S&D over here, but there's so many sell fiefs it's ridiculous. Pro-tip for the future, only buy as many goods as you have troops. You'll still move around 21'ish meters/min (rather than down to about 11 meters/min) and you won't have so many crates on you, making you look like a baby holding 10 pounds of chocolate.

The best way to survive as a newbie is to join an experienced faction. They will teach you how to play and you are less likely to get robbed. Ex. I started playing last strat round and joined the FCC. Kesh (Leader of the FCC at the time) taught me so much and now I am a partial leader of a strat faction who has been fighting 2 of the most famous factions and we have been doing fairly well for ourselves.

Yeah id suggest joining a faction to learn the ropes. Your Strat options are also kinda limited as 1 guy. U can make decent money trading, but troops can be hard to come by.

but being a loner is possible, especially if ur friendly w/ factions and can trade easily.

none of it's fun tho

horses help with the troop count too

Thanks a lot for the help guys, I'll look for a faction to join to ease this experience. Also I don't know what's going on, but I can't reply to any message. It keeps saying the captcha is always wrong.

Yeah, if you got ported over there and didn't check the area you are in with regards to buying and selling at their fiefs, you were probably attacked. Generally, you should try and give people heads up if you are coming through their land, especially if using S/D.
