Heavier, Slower, but way lower in damage.
Why is the best looking 2h sword in the game having the worst stats???
Its heavier and thicker, it should do like 46 cut and 24 pierce.
You could make it weight 4 like flamberge, and up the price!
Right now, its 3 length more than a claymore, and then all goes downhill after that. Less damage and speed for more weight.....(Well you get extra pierce but it's not worth)
Please write those stats on this thing and make my dream come true!

I'm not really too bothered about the model, but for the price the stats look OK. Its basically a Danish Great Sword for less than half the repair cost with -1 on both damage directions, -4 length, +1 speed and +1 weight (weight is usually a good stat for melee weapons for weapon stun, though atm weapon stun seems to be non-existent).

I was with you until this part, then I just couldn't take anything else seriously.
The weapon is bad only because people don't(know how to) utilize the extra weight to weapon stun.

Yes, weapon stun feels altered for a good while now, for the worse. Was wondering if it was just me.

The balance in general is sort of wonky. longswords doing almost as much damage as greatswords, flambard doing more damage, having more speed that much more expensive weapons at the end of the list... i really feel that 2h needs weapons rebalancing, though my main is a 1h. my alt character, sir tristan, is very enjoyable, (30/6), but i end up using the morningstar and heavy bastard instead of the greatswords, since they really arent worth it.

Everyone under-estimates the importance of weapon weight. Held attacks from a Heavy Great Swords will block stun Longswords/HBS/etc, and even very good players have trouble with block stun and how it screws up the rhythm of the fight.

while that is true, ultimately the most spammy wins in 2h duels.

It's even worse when you compare it to the Sword of War, the trade off is 2 speed for 1 thrust damage and .5 weight, in today's culture of longswords with 99 speed the loss in speed isn't compensated in the right way.

Have played with it for years, I think its OK.
Hold overheads :P

Indeed it's OK, but why not make it just as good as other big ass 2handers?
-
Because it's cheaper. It's also the best sword for stunning that has four attacking directions.
-
The upkeep got alot higher a while back though.
Anyhow, this is a sword for cool aestethic people, not for the min maxers among us.

Do you really think money is still an issue for 70% of the community?

get on EU_3 with me, if i wanted to i can stun lock you on every attack 100% chance, you won't even be able to take one swing i know all the weapons that can do this.
Did it against gurnisson while i was half-swording my german greatsword every attack was a stunlock and i knew it was going to stun from the start, just stun after stun forcing you to block until the duel is over either by you quitting or dying. its easy, can do it all day. it needs changing imo, when i used the barmace a while ago i was just stunlocking on purpose because i knew i could, works with alot of other weapons too.

I think it is in the name of diversification :P

The HGS is heavy, as its name suggests, and in the right hands that makes it a pain for light weapon users.

Indeed, it's a Nodachi with a thrust. Didn't Chase win the EU duel tournament with a Nodachi? That's right, he did.

Well to be honest the nodachi was only a good choice because most of the competition was longsword-wielding ironclad tryhards.
-
It has 2 lenght and 3 swing damage less. How is it 'a nodachi with thrust' ? Doens't make sense at all. Jesus.
Because if you've ever seen anyone use a nodachi effectively, they do so by making weapon stun a core part of their playstyle. The fact that it can be said that the nodachi is viable due to it being effective vs longswords(light weapons, really), is a point in its favor, not some obscure bs that shouldn't be considered in balance. The idea that every weapon should be equally as good as the next in either the same type or amount of situations, is boring and not what anyone actually wants (it's also not how crpg has ever been balanced.)
Yes, the HGS is probably the most underpowered/underwhelming weapon of the 2h sword line-up, but please take a second to actually compare the stats to a few other weapons, particularly the Danish Greatsword. Whether or not people actually utilize the HGS to its full potential does in no way affect what the actual potential of the weapon is.
Of all the issues the HGS has, the main thing holding it back is how easy it is to read (big thick, shiny model).

Please dont change it.. Its still a somewhat rare weapon, and if its buffed itll be one of the generic 2h weapons aswell..
