Title: Option to Not View Polls
Post by: SP1N on February 10, 2014, 07:52:17 pm
Polls have become quite the annoyance when they're activated mid-round (Commander being the biggest problem on NA_1). They take up nearly a quarter of the screen and block pivotal vision points. A lot of times, someone will apply for commander while most other players are in the middle of fights. Seeing as the poll for commander only shows up for one team, this can cause quite the disadvantage, even in a 2v1.

My suggestion would be to add an option in menu settings to enable/disable the viewing of polls (or Commander polls, if you can make a code that specific).

would be cool, along with an option to be able to mute commander chat separately as well (though seems like people are wising up and not electing commanders all the time like when it was newer)

It's annoying since it doesn't mesh well with the HUD. I've gotten into the habit of instantly pressing 2.

I know this is harsh, but 3-24 hours penalty if you fail a commander poll (or any poll?) I would also like.

I agree with SP1N 100%; nothing is worse than when you are fighting a tough opponent at low health and end up dying because someone decided to initiate a commander poll halfway into the round. Yes, it's a minor distraction, but a minor distraction at the wrong time can make all the difference. As such, I would personally welcome an option to either hide polls or automatically vote no on every single commander poll.

I also agree with what San said about some sort of disincentive or penalty for failing polls. There is a minority of people who try and use the commander poll for its intended purpose of trying to get the team to work together, but the majority of people who get commander on NA just use it to fill up chat with nonsense. These same people also tend to be ones who attempt to initiate the commander poll constantly, at every single opportunity they have to do so, and who never give up despite failing nearly every single time.

this should definitely be a thing, except probably not after a "fist offense". maybe 2 or 3, just to not have it be some weird way to get people banned.

I hit ESC. Bam right there in the corner, easy. running my finger acrossed the top of my keyboard in the dark to hopefully find the every allusive 2 key that gets rid of the text doesn't fly well in a fight

Banned? By penalty, I meant you can't make a poll again unless I'm misreading. Sorry if I wasn't clear with it. This actually avoids ban requests for poll abuse.

I think this is a great suggestion SP1N!

To refine it, devs could add the exception that you see kick- and banpolls against yourself. It does not happen very often, but sometimes a random ragepoll hits you. So in these cases, you can at least vote 2 for yourself =D

Bump: I feel this deserves a bit of consideration, though I'm obviously a bit biased. :3
