Title: Forum +'s and -'s; who's do you value most?

I realized after looking at who voted on a couple of recent posts of mine, that I only really cared about a couple of the votes I got, because they were from forum users who's opinion I actually valued. This is a pretty close knit game community, with players who have been around for 3+ years. Most of us have had time to make judgments on other players pretty well. So here's my question to you, who's vote do you value more than the rest? Do you just care about the number of votes? Do you not care about votes at all?

Personally, I feel good if Canary, Kalam, or Sandersson hit that + for me. And of course, I treasure my one upvote from chadz  :D

I feel I did something reasonable when less speaking guys, like Gurni,Argantyr,Jackie etc. + my posts. I am younger than most of the community, its like I am growing balls suddenly.

I got a downvote from chmpx once :) and then he gave me my title

Since each person uses the + and - thing differently, and some are more sensitive to people having differing opinions its hard to take it seriously really. I tend to just use the + for stuff I agree with or for things that are well written or add to the discussion whether I agree or not. I don't really do -

I'm with Duster some of the people in this community have such strong opinions and honestly I look forward to reading some of their posts.  As a former member of Chaos (very briefly) I love getting + from them, they were all honestly great guys with great opinions on things and often times thought way outside the box.  Even though most of them are inactive now they still sneak on the forums. (Malaclypse, Sandwhich, Canary, Karma, Ober)

I always take it to the heart when Kaoklai downvotes me.

When this kind, friendly and in his mindset very positive person feels almost FORCED to downvote someone for once, I know I must have written utter shite. Especially since I value his opinion a lot, due to his sophisticated posts and well thought out answers. The forum would not be the same without Kaoklai, its good soul.

P.S.: I'd also like to mention his calm maturity and his distinct sense of humour. He always likes a good laugh, even if it's on him. In this case he doesn't hesitate to show his recognition of the joke by immediately giving his (of course positive) vote, showing his great, sunny character.

As a proof a joke on Kaoklai:

Kaoklais Penis is the size of all the lightsabers he dished out in the forum.

I tend to value the most two types of votes: Either from devs (except for fips), which means that not only they still read the forums, but that I may have said something not completely stupid, or from people I used to play with, especially the old acre guys or nordmen

No really, I do. Couldn't care less about total number of + or - I get per post, as long as I get - from smoothrich and kaoklai and/or + from Phew, life is good... and my post is valid.

again, kinda confused by the question... but truth is, i didn't realize that gif was really from castaway, just thought it looked like it and was actually some tom hanks lookin dude beating off. guess my joke was ruined by the fact that it actually is a scene from the movie. SNOW WELL

So you did not remember the scene, and you were guessing it is from castaway, because it looked likely.

Ok no prob there, I was just confused by your comment because it sounded like: "I dont remember this scene but it is from castaway", which confused me. That is all.

I value everyone's opinions (some more than others).  +'s and -'s are okay for validation or rejection of your idea, however I appreciate someone replying to me and stating why I'm wrong or they disagree, rather than giving a - and leaving the thread.

As phew, jona and Joker alluded to, I consider a "-" from Kaoklai to mean that I am most likely correct in my assessments or opinions.

Every time Kalam muted me on the forums was the best upvote possible.  It was kind of like little league all over again where you hit  a home run and on the way back from home plate the coach pats you on the butt and says great job, now go take a rest in the dugout for a while.  Or that scene from Babe where the farmer says "that will do, pig, that will do" before putting him back in his kennel to be released another day.
