First get PS, then athletics.

STF always seems fun while you're playing it but once you make an alt it all goes down hill!

I have an overspecialized horsethrower as main.

LVL 33 6PT 8riding 8WM 4HA 184wpf in throwing.

This is not really practical,I do not feel the extra specialization pays off vs having some PS and ATH or 7PT. But respecs are expensive!

I think the optimal build is 7PT (so that you can pick up all sorts of throwing weapons)
and if possible 7riding (so that you can ride any horse)
Should get 3 HA if possible, but some say it works fine without any.
I put all my wpf in throwing, too keep repairs down. After 150, I do not really think you notice any difference.
But since you scavenge weapons, you never know what profficieny you end up needing.
Alternative mode , for blocking, and the unusual meleekill.

Bring 4 stacks of throwingweapon (keeps repair expenses down somewhat, since you do not get multiple repairs on the same item).
I use Throwingspears mostly, occationaly HTA or Snowflakes.
But almost all of the throwingweapons are usable if you get some speed into them.
Picking up stuff from horseback is a PITA, but you cant get around it. Loot dead throwers!

I prefer a horse with some bumpdmg, it comes in handy often.
If you prefer to be abit offensive, the armor and bump also help you alot.
Having a high mobilityhorse also has its advantages like desert horse or arabian.

Practice throwing upclose, it has some odd mechanics,I am not very good at it.

Speedbonus is key. Always try to get some speed in the direction you are throwing.
Also prioritize targets that movie towards you for added speedbonus.

The ultimate is the doubletapbump.

Where you get up to maxspeed - throw from afar-throw one upclose-and finish with a bump.
Not many that can withstand that attack if you execute it perfectly. It is hard tho.

This is top-of-my-head-rambling that I hope is usefull.
There are many other small tips and tricks.. and specific tactics that is more gear and build dependant.

Horsethrowing is an expensive hobby, not very suitable if you value your gold.
My loadout costs 70K and has 5K max upkeep in theory. In practice somewhat lower.
You can have fun and be effective with cheaper builds.
One major costsaver is to not bring your own horse, there are usually plenty of good horses to steal after a short while.
Know how to whistle for a horse... I dont ,since i remapped the keys ,the Q-commands got fskd up .

Lykke til Tore!

Whaling!

I have a lvl 30 HT alt (I love it.  Most fun I've had in a long time). But I definitely prefer the pure builds.  I'm currently 15/24, I'll be getting 8 riding / WPM at 31, but the 4 HA is so good imo.  I also use +3 Jarids and a +3 Arabian Warhorse.  The acceleration / maneuverability makes it great for avoiding almost anything, while also achieving max speed damage hits more often.

Not saying this is the best way, this is just my preferences.  :). Enjoy your HT.
