Title: Get rid of Rageball and Implement Hunger Games type servers.

It's been a while since I've seen anyone on rageball (At least in NA).  I understand the dev's are busy but if time permits I think a hunger games type mini-game/server could spice things up a bit.  Could be similar to the way it's set it up in minecraft.  Obviously I don't know how difficult this would be or wouldn't be but it could be worth a try.

So everyone starts off with light or no armor.

Weapons spawn in the middle at random with random items hidden throughout the map.

Blah blah blah you know what hunger games is.

Benefits:

-New combat based game mode.
-Would work well with low or medium pop servers. 
-Basic concepts of the hunger games are basically understood and enforcement of rules would be easy. 
-Could entice more players to join the mod/keep them interested while leveling their characters.

Negative factors:

-Might not be plausible. 
-Might not even be enticing to the community.  (Hopefully this post will settle that)

Any ideas?

As a lethal punching specialist i have to say this gamemode sounds enticing, especially if weapons are a rarity and there are gloves to be found :P

One downside i can imagine is the huge amount of delaying, in other games where there are Hunger Games modes everyone has the same movement speed, in a Crpg version the agi-whores will find all the best locations and items, and if they don't they can literally run away for ever and never be caught. Imagine how awesome you'd feel to find weapons and a full set of armour, then for the next 20minutes you begin to realize that of course nobody is going to let you come close to them because even if their stats are identical to you - them being naked means you'll never be able to chase them or kill them.

Find a way round this and i'm still keen.


Well I don't think that armor would be among the items on the ground.  Just would probably start out in peasant attire, then just weapons or even smoke bombs, barricades etc up for grabs.  (Barricades could lead to delaying as well so these are bridges that may have to be crossed)  Some items may have to be taken out of the rotation but I think, due the the fact that it is a free for all the delaying would be minimal. 

There could also be some sort of time limit implemented where the remaining player who has dealt the most/taken the most damage wins.  Master the field wouldn't work since it is team based.  Maybe instead of master the field entice players to the middle with an additional spawn of heirloomed weapons once 2-5 minutes are left in the game. 

I think we have to be conscious that these games would last longer than your average death-match in EU1 or NA1.  Experience and gold bonus could be dealt with accordingly.

Ranged weapons are a way around this. I see the bigger problem in dead players...what are they going to do? Maybe a round should only last 5-10 minutes, and at the end of the round, only players that are still alive AND have at least 1 kill get a multi.

On another note: Rageball is fucking great. It just wasn't marketed well. We should have weekly tourneys with large sums of gold or even loompoints as prize money.

Don't get me wrong! I'm a fan of rageball as well!  I just never see anyone on, unfortunately.  I think another problem with it is that people play this game for the combat mechanics.  Half the time when I played rageball people just picked duels with each other and scoring on the other team was just an afterthought.  I think this would be diverse enough to feel like a different game, yet still be combat based.  Perhaps not even get rid of rageball but integrate both games?  I only said get rid of rageball because I assume servers are expensive and I rarely see it played.

Hell even if agi-whores learn the exact items and locations in rotation and get everywhere first, and run away all the time i still think i'd play this mode a lot if it was made and worked.

I think it shouldn't be too hard to write a script that randomly distributes the items.

Like I said I honestly know next to nothing about writing script and such.  If this could be a possibility I think it would be a blast!

to work around agi whore characters beating you to the stuff, everyone starts out as a peasant, with a new character, or the server just knocks you down to lvl 1.  Then the server has bloated experience, which allows players who stay alive to increase stats as they play.  Eventually you will go from lvl 1 to like like 30 in 30mins of play, along with everyone else.  Though the stats may vary, in the beginning you are all the same.

Nice idea but make it deathmatch so you dont have to worry about dead players, anyone reaches some kind of point wins and round starts again
