Title: Give spears on horseback old attack angle?

*Note that I'm not talking about lances, only spears like War Spear or maybe even shorter, it's up to devs to decide what length is enough.

Think it would create an almost entirely new cavalry class.

Would be awesome if the lengthier lances had most stat nerfs undone and lance angle then depended on weapon reach.

Vikingr cavalry with spear can do an overhead attack  like on the picture. If I am right, it is also using WSE 2

I see absolutely no reason to hold the spear like that, unless you're going to throw it.

I think an underhanded grip is only good for couching with a lance.  It provides good stability with the back of the shaft under your armpit, but its pretty hard to actually generate force outside of the horse's movement like that.  An overhand grip allows you to generate your own force, though it is less stable.  It also makes it easier to retract your weapon and provides an odd angle that may go over shields and make it difficult for infantry to defend against.

maybe we should add new animation with diffrend weapon type and link it to polearm WPF
or just change animation to 1h thrust and then link it with polearm WPF

Lancing angle should be tied to WPF because going pure lancer is pretty stupid these days.  Polearm wpf only gives a negligible speed increase to lancing, which some lancers believe to be a bad thing.  Plus lances are stupid expensive for their actual performance.

I personally, am happy with the current state of cav.  Would I like to see a buff to lances? Sure. Is it necessary? No, but I would argue justified.  If you give spears the 360 then you make all other melee cav weapons obsolete (besides those couching lances), and your gonna piss off the 50% of foot troops who can't manage cav as it is even more.  What I would like to see and is a higher reduction in glancing. Beyond that, however I would say that melee cav right now is pretty balanced. In terms of cost per kill I feel that light cav is a little under powered while heavy might be a little over powered, but again only slightly.

On the note of lances, they could need a buff, since they are complete shit compared to 1h cav and Great lance cav!

Right I'm referring to the war spear and red tassel primarily but even the shorter ones. Perhaps the only spears that my comment would not be relevant towards is the shortened spear or others if there are any  others of a similar length. No need to get your patties in a bunch especially over this friendly discussion, also try reading past the first sentence next time.

To be more specific, what I asked cmp was for lance angle based on length and make the heavy lance angle increased by a small percentage (to slightly combat couching more easily). Exactly how limited to change the current implementation is, I'm not entirely sure.

I really really don't think any of the lances need an angle increase. Spears having the old lancing angle, or a larger one than lances would probably be pretty cool but actual lances are already the strongest horseback weapon in the game by some distance, they do not need a buff (this is all of them, light lance included even though it is never used because the other 2 are better).
I'd go as far as to say the lancing angle being put into the game was the best change in cRPG from native.

From what I understand it's a POLEARM wide effect. They can't aim it at single items. At least they couldn't about a year ago.
