Title: Grab your popcorn kiddies. Movie time!
Post by: Tom Cruise on December 14, 2013, 04:57:16 am
Hello every one. I assume like the rest of society, you all love good movies and hype movie trailers. So I've decided to start a thread based on movies that have recently come out or are coming out, whether that be a simple trailer on them, or the fact that you watch that movie recently, and open discussions and opinions about the movie/trailer. There of course can be room for classics but I want to focus more on the now rather then.

Also please be respectable with spoilers :) Don't ruin it for everyone else.

I will start of the thread with a great childhood friend of mine, whom a long awaited return could be quite epic!

Well I was going to say "shots fired" but then you actually retorted with a blog lol Is that really yours? Cause that's very ironic if so XD

But I have to agree with you. There are many reboots and squeals lately. I would say its about a 50/50 spread of them being good or bad. So I can't really complain, nor can I rejoice at them.

It gets even worse, if you want original content, not a story that has already been there as another film, book, comic, game, etc. Such films are maybe 10% of all films released lately, if that.

A ridiculously small part of all movies contain zero movie tropes (and by contain I mean in a general sense, if your movie ridicules a trope, the trope is still there). And most of these are barely watchable because they are artistic projects rather than entertainement.

I feel like I've seen this move a couple of time already.

...and why the hell would you have flares tied to your legs when you parachute in somewhere.

Watched Hobbit part 2 yesterday, in 3D. I don't get what's the point of making that movie "3D", because there were a whopping 2-3 3D effects throughout the film (with no importance whatsoever), whilst the rest of the film appeared blurry and hard to watch for me.

Didn't they already reboot Godzilla ~10 years ago? We must now re-imagine the reboots.

Pacific Rim just came out, and while it was a B movie, it was still entertaining and a new boot in the monster film category and its success is probably why Godzilla is being rebooted.

The 1998 version was considered a pile of shit

Pacific Rim
Oh come on, this movie was awful. Maybe if you put your brain on damage control and watched without thinking... Thus was like so many other movies action for the sake of action.

I honestly thought Pacific Rim was a good movie. For me I don't need a giant twisty turny story line with some backdrop or anything like that. Sometimes you just need something simple and awesome, and giant robots fighting giant monsters is pretty fucking awesome! XD

That being said, Pacific Rim, not a great plot but a decent one, and as said before, fucking giant robots and monsters fighting, whats not to like?

Cloverfield could also be considered as a Godzilla reboot.
