This happened to me last year, and i know its pretty annoying. It was about my router and it was shared with the whole apartment , because of shitty system I had this for a long time. Here are a few things to try;
-Manually set an IP and DNS
-Reset your router(you know, with a needle into that small hole)
-Install your routers software to your PC.
-Get a new internet.
-
* You can try to use the windows resource monitor under accessories and see if any other programs you have is suddenly using your network. This could also be other devices.
* Manually set the password on your router, and don't use WEP encryption if you are. (WPA is ok)
* Try using a cable to your comp in stead of wifi.
* If you have to be on wifi, check signal strength, try to improve it by moving antennas etc.. Scan for other networks around you, change to another channel than the one they are using etc..
But this could be 100 things. In the end, if nothing works, reinstall windows and c-rpg.

So i pluged my computer in to router and it worked and fixed the problem, but i am not able to keep it pluged in i was just able to test it. what do i do now..
-
sellotape it into router.
-
Make sure you are running in dx7 in dx9 if you have a lower end computer. My first two gens I had this problem and thought it was internet side too, ended up my computer could not run dx9. Switched over to dx7 and everything went smooth.
Oh its the router.
Oops.
Consider an upgrade? Routers are changing constantly and yours may be struggling to transfer data.

If you used the same cable, it might be your switch. Otherwise could be the cable. But are you sure it's not some other device on the network suddenly clogging dem pipes?
If you haven't ruled out the router completely yet, it might have to do with how it requests a new IP address from the provider. You could go to whatismyip.com, write down your external ip, then after you have the disconnect, wait 5 min, go back to whatismyip.com and check if it's changed. If it has, call the provider and tell them to configure the router so it does only request new IPs at 3:00 in the night or something.

Are you getting internet through wifi?
-
It was ruined cable in my case. It went under the rug and everyone stepped on it. So, check your cable first.

I had same issue, my internet would freeze up for 2-3 seconds and d/c me from mount and blade. It turned out to be my router/modem I had a shit one from comcast where it was 2 in 1, and with the phone line plugged in as well; I believe it was overheating causing me to dc every now and then.. I got a separate router and modem and it fixed my issue. I also got higher internet speeds but the only solution will be spending money it seems.
