If you press QQF in the voice command menu, your character will whistle. This is good to quickly notify allies of enemies outside their vision, and to scare the crap out of an enemy before/while you backstab them. The most useful function is the one that was intended: you can call a horse that has no rider, and it will come over to you. I'm curious about the mechanics of whistling for a horse.
Does whistling call over the closest horse to you by default? Does more riding skill provide any benefit to whistling? Can you override lower riding skill players, or is it just a whistle spamming contest? What about donkeys, which require 0 riding skill? Should anyone be able to call a donkey?
Are there any other non-obvious uses for whistling? How well does a donkey handle with 1 riding skill? If you have any experience to share, I'd be grateful.

Whistling is the same for everyone.
Before the voice commands were added when we only had whistling there would always be a "whistle if X is gay/great/sexy/herp/derp".
But I whistling for a horse doesn't always work. They are hard to get to stop or come to your when they are fleeing (because they have been hit while not mounted).

You need riding for the horse to listen to you (don't know if higher than 1 make a difference)
Horses don't listen to the peasant plebs..

Imo it is a whistling spam and not based on the lvl of riding (above 1 ofcourse).

Have any1 ever tried whisling as a strategy move? For example if a few riders dehorse and walk away a bit and waiting for a gang of enemies. when the opponents are closing in the whistling begin and the horses bump the attackers. Im very well aware that this is probably a useless strategy but could be fun i guess :D

Will try that for next strat battle - mount up Kalmarians!

I have seen this as a end of round strategy.
1v1 bring the enemy between you and a horse and start whisling.
Then take advantage of the horsebump.
It worked and was awesome.

Ride 20 plated chargers behind the enemies in strat, get of and make some teammates on the other side of the enemy whistle, when chargers have reached the other end of the enemy - whistle to bring them back - repeat until saticfied with result

You only need 1 riding to whistle horses (not sure how that works with donkeys). Seems to pull the closest horse to you. It's an all or nothing thing, if I whistle and then you whistle the horse will respond to whoever whistled most recently.
