Please remove rain penalties until they can be universally attributed to all players in a battle, so everyone can fight on equal ground? I'm not talking about different penalties for different classes but the fact that rain seem to happen client side not server side.
Something is definitely off when only a handful of players in a battle must suffer from pretty severe penalties that most others do not, trying to catch kiting archers with athletics penalty for example (especially if you've sacrificed a lot of points in ath), when they have none sort of completely ruins the feeling of a fun, fair battle.
Thank you for your time.

I think it is server side, but sometimes you load the map later and you don't see rain, you will still be nerfed in that case. That's at least how I thought it worked.

I said 'seem', how would I know how it works - why don't you tell me, Paul?
I base my assumption on the numerous times I've commented about consecutive maps with rain with most of the other players saying they have none, last time just 10 min ago. I asked if they had particle effects off or whatever but no.
Anyway, if it is client or server side or whatever notwithstanding, it remains that it is seemingly not equal to all.

1)It's serverside
2)Fog is not & it is very easy to avoid it if you know how
3)Rain & fog are the most unbalanced & useless things in the game. How would you fell if your weapon would randomly get -25% dmg modificator for whole battle?
- Rain reduces bow damage by 10%
- Rain reduces crossbow damage by 25%.

I remember the talk about it being made serverside but when people tell me in-game they have no rain and can feel no athletics penalty I don't know what to think. Could it just be bugged somehow as Mammonist argues?
-
In damage calc the server doesn't ask or even care if it is rain for the client. Most likely it's the same for movement. However to be sure you can only test.

I have to agree (and have many times before about this subject)...rain penalties are an interesting factor if this were Mortal Online but it's not - so let's drop them.
If we do want to move in that direction - then lets add stamina, and wound systems, etc...
But yeah, since I know that's not the intention - they why do we have rain penalties? It's pretty and atmospheric, but let's drop the penalties.

i think the visual "penalties" matter the most since they dont apply for everybody the same
when one archer sees rain, or fog, and the other one doesnt, then hes got a big disadvantage cause he cant see as far as the "sunny day" archer
since i hate archers i say "constant fog" please so they dont see where they are shooting :D

Leave the weather effects for the "mood" but remove any penalty. Especially the movement-penalties.
-
I don't think that what the OP describes actually happens, but any penalties from rain should be removed regardless. They add nothing to the gameplay experience, just dull it a little.
-
If it doesn't happen why do people on the server report different things, do they lie, do they troll (all of them really?), are they blind or otherwise wrong somehow? Am I? Why didn't it rain on the same map when I logged back in after making this thread 5 min after? Could there not be some kind of disrepancy between client and server?
Not sarcasm, pondering what may be a plausible explanation.

I have never seen any differences between players that lead me to the conclusion that some of them were affected by rain and others were not, nor have I ever seen anyone suggest this until you. As far as I know the server checks the weather when the map loads, and applies the penalties for that weather for the entire duration of the map. Which means that if the dynamic weather system switches weather during the map, people joining will get the new weather client side, but the server will retain the weather penalties it loaded at the start of the map.
Differences in visual weather for people playing at the same time, yes. Differences in mechanical weather, no. Of course that still means that differences in fog could give players with lighter or no fog an advantage in visibility.

It would be nice, if devs doesn't implemented some retarded option in settings.
So now you can't effectively ninjaing archers in heavy fog and they can headshot you even more easily in almost any distance.
Rain and night brings absolutely nothing positive to game.
For me just greatly decrease enjoyment of my time on crpg server.

If you remove rain penalty, you'll buff AGI builds more than you did with the last patch. Cause it's raining most of the time and my ATH suffers a lot while it's raining.
