Title: Kingdoms Rise

I noticed this on Steam and it looks like a fantasy, multiplayer arena-combat game with what looks like directional attacking/blocking a-la our beloved Mount & Blade.

Could be fun but I can't really tell too much from the trailers and the only melee weapons seem to be variations of giant swords. Looks like you play dress-up, modify your stats a bit and spam left click; roll around a bit and fire some spells and arrows. I'm thinking for me personally I would've been all over it a few years back, now I'm kind of particular how I play out my power fantasies.

Yeah saw it awhile back as well. Reminds me of Mount & Blade + Dynasty Warriors

Looked more like WotR then M&B combat to me.

I watched a few videos of it on youtube and it looks hideous and the gameplay bad. There's so much bloom my eyes were aching.

Vibe your tale and mine is like the parable of Cain and Abel
In this fable I am Cain and you play the part of Abel
History repeats itself; I still Can and you are still not Able

lol

anyway, checked their tutorial videos, seems they somewhat have what M&B has regarding melee mechanics:
- directional blocks and attacks, not sure how many directions, they keep mentioning this 360° combat system but from what I've seen it's 8 attack/block directions
- feinting
- chamberblocking
- "combos" which looks just like a more fluid follow up attack
- supposedly you can move/adjust your block after it was executed

I tried it out the other day as it was on offer for cheap and right now I would say avoid it unless you're really that eager or certain you will play it in the future. It definitely is an alpha, but I do hope they plan on improving just about everything because it's a mess tbh.
