Title: Build question.
Post by: Tyefire on November 17, 2013, 06:42:42 pm
I am currently LVL 30 18/21 with 7 ath 7 wm 3 if and 6 ps. Now I am planning on going higher level build and I want to add some shield into this build along with 1 or 2 points in IF. I am wondering how I should go about this build from here if I should want to achieve that?

How high do you plan on going?

If you're going to melee with the shield the lowest I'd go is 3 points + brown lion heater shield, which you can get next level.

I plan on going about as high as 33 or 34 if that. 2 or 3 shield points sounds nice but I want to increase IF aswell.

For lvl 33 and 34 I'd suggest 21/21 or 18/24 build. Since you're a 2hander I think you won't need more than 1 shield skill. Old board shield for example has 200 hp, so it'll give you nice cover against arrows.

Level 34
21/21
65 hit points
5 IF
7 PS
3 Shield
7 Ath
7 WM

I saw him using a onehander ingame, but I guess he could have just been screwing around.

Sorry I forgot to change that thing on the bottom of my forum name Im actually a 1her 163 wpf Sorry I didnt mention that

3 Shield

7 WM

Also That does not sound like a bad build I should consider it then and 3 shield seems it would be sufficient. Also when should I start adding shield around what level because I am currently level 30.

Depending on what you want to wait for (7 PS or 3 shield)

Level 31   ->           32    ->       33      ->      34
18 STR    ->           20    ->       21      ->      21
3 IF        ->            3     ->        3       ->       5
6 PS      ->             6     ->        7       ->       7
2 Shield ->             2     ->        2      ->        3

or

Level 31->        32      ->        33        ->        34
18 STR ->        19      ->        20        ->         21
3 IF      ->         4      ->         5         ->          5
6 PS    ->          6      ->         6         ->          7
3 Shield ->        3      ->         3         ->          3

If you stay 18/21, you could always throw riding in at higher levels. I'd say get shield as high as you want it first, then go for riding, then IF. Or, if no riding, IF next. Personally I think 4 shield is the sweet spot; there are not always a lot of 3 and under skill shields in Strat battles if that effects the outcome of how your build looks.

I dont really feel I need 7 ps. I would rather go 18/24 or stay 18/21 and go to 33 or 34

It definitely depends on how comfortable you are with shields. With all of the arbalest users around nowadays, I can't say brown lion is that reliable anymore unlike how it was in the past. I think shield is more useful than IF up until 4 shield, then IF is better if you can stack it (compared to 5shield it's debatable). Quickly dropping your shield with H and picking up a spare (most likely a 4-difficulty shield) is invaluable when it's highly likely that ranged are the last players left. You're more than capable without shield, so it all depends on how much trouble you feel you're having with ranged currently.

Losing 1PS is like -2 damage on your weapon. If you feel that's okay, it's a good change (+you get easier hits and more speed bonus). With 6PS, I mostly target lightly armored or give assists against heavily armored opponents. Damage output against heavily armored ganks is difficult since they'll just tank your hits, but on the flipside you're fast enough to just kite.

So then san, would you reccomend me going to 4 shield and staying at 3 if because I am having problems with ranged being pure 1h is fun but sometimes I just wish I had some protection. I feel there has been a huge increase in range lately so thats why im aiming to get shield.

Yeah, definitely.

Edit: To go into more detail, 3IF at 21 strength is close to 5IF at 18 strength, and only 3 less hp than 18 strength 6IF. 3IF is still decent at that point.
