18/21

7wm
7ath

IF is useless, you will get oneshot from arbelast anyway.

With 3 PS at least you can kill someone :D

For more infos, you can look here

Alright I read your guide, very usefull ill be going 18/21 lvl 30

For strat you have to be at least decent archer. I have no problems to get in a roster. You will always have to check box "Provide character stats". 6 PD archers are welcome for strat battles because most common bows are rus, long and horn bows :)

steevee what do you use?

Short Arming Sword is a good option. 28 cut, 28 pierce, 103 speed and low upkeep. Nordic War Sword has 2 more cut, but 4 less pierce compared to it and is a good choice if you prefer slashing over stabbing. I think Steevee uses the Short Arming Sword, but can't say for certain anymore. :P

I was thinking about the broad sword, but I will see

Usually at 30 my build looks something like this

18/21

6PD
6PS
7WM
4ATH

50 in 1h
and 159 in archery

And when you choose a sword either go short arming for its pierce, or broad short for its cut.

Well you're lvl35 and one of the best known archers on EU - not that surprising you can get on strat battles   That said, I had no problems getting in as a lvl31 archer that can't aim for shit :)

I was thinking about the broad sword, but I will see

Broad sword is prob the strongest sword but it costs you a lot of upkeep, i cant keep a positive gold income if i use that sword with bodkins (wich i almost always use). i personnaly use the short sword as a side arm, got the things i need to fight + keeps my upkeep below the 2k.

About the build: I agree with what most people say:

18/21 (lvl 30)
7 WM
7 Ath
6 PD

and then 3 into IF and Ath (i presonally like IF but i'm one of the few archer)

You can ether put all WPF in Archery (thats what i like) or put 50 in 1h and the rest in archery (50 because after that you are spending 2/more WPF per WPF stat, below 50 you are using 1 point of WPF per WPF stat.

Edit: I have seen sharpe's build but personnaly i need the ath, if you have good melee skills it is an option but if your are average/below average i would stick to useing ath in my opinion, if you drop your bow you can out run most people on EU1 so you can survive and come back later to pick up a bow.

I typically go to 32 so thats why my ATH is at 4, once I hit 31 I get my 7 athletics; and then run like the wind.

Alright ill go that 18/21 build thanks guys I just got my bow +2 and 65k  :)

i'm using short arming sword, it's a good weapon and i like ho it's look like. Remember one thing: slow archer is dead archer, with more athletics you will be able to shoot a bit more, in melee many guys ar so great, that you will have no chances to kill them, 3 ps is enought IMO. And for longbow get as much WPF in archery :)

Is your short arming loomed?

Yes, I have it on +3. It's not op, but it's nice and I like it :) I'm playing for so long that except boots all is on +3 (benifits from looming boots are not worth it).

alright, I got a broad so far  its really good.. just I don't feel like looming it, its pretty OP by itself

Specially when you have that high ath/agility, broad short can be a nightmare.

Post by: Goat_Fighter on November 17, 2013, 03:15:14 am
alright im level 28 prolly wont get to level 31 because Im not really getting accepted into strat battles wich sucks so should I respect so I can use my bow and become archer or should I wait till I retire then go archer any suggestions?
Title: Re: Archer build w/longbow
Post by: Sharpe on November 17, 2013, 05:07:15 am
Personally I'd retire first get the lp, make the longbow +3 and then start your archer.

Post by: Goat_Fighter on November 17, 2013, 06:12:26 am
I don't think a +3 longbow is much different from a +2 longbow idk, I kinda wanna get my arrows asap I can get 2 lp's to get a +3 bodkins good idea?
Title: Re: Archer build w/longbow
Post by: Templar_Steevee on November 17, 2013, 09:11:19 am
on +3 longbow is getting +1 to accuracy, it will help a bit in aiming :) looming arrows give you more ammo, and +5 arrows in quiver is a lot if you will make it on +3. :)
Title: Re: Archer build w/longbow
Post by: Jeraz on November 17, 2013, 11:47:12 am
The thing with bodkins is this: Looming only gives it +amount of arrows.

Looming it 1 time:  +3
Looming it 2 times:+3
Looming it 3 times:+5

So looming it 2 times is useless, just loom it once or 3 times, keep that in mind.

If youre an archer and you refuse to be more accurate there is something wrong, so loom the longbow. And honestly I do notice the difference between a +2 and +3 longbow.

If you are too poor, just get a cheap +1 bodkin quiver, it helps a lot to get 36 arrows compared to 30 arrows only. The main thing as archer is to get first the bow loomed, especially the longbow to make it more accurate.

You will get to the bigger strat battles when you reach lvl30, I'm sure. Just go on one team's teamspeak even if they haven't accepted you. There are usually plenty of slots after a roll call and level30's, even lesser known players are welcome. At lower levels it might be hard to get in unless you're known.

Longbow doesnt seem like a good deal to me...

Unless they fixed missile speed already...

What armor should I wear that looks cool but doesn't affect WPF?

Longbow is best bow in this game for me. It's harder to use than rest, but dmg can compensate it. Missile speed is not bad at all, you just have to het accostumed to it.

You can make few sets of gear. Ahh you have to remember is to not go over 10 weigth in total body armor. I also wrote in my guide that there are multipliers for body parts like x2 for head, x4 for hand, x1 for body and leg armor weight.

Most important think is upkeep factor when choosing equipment (longbow and bodkins will bleed out you from gold a bit).
Fasion C-rpg welcome  you with open hands ^^

loom some gloves first, not bow or arrows. MW mail gauntlets add +9 to body armor for only .5 weight

I have a +3 bow already I don't really wanna upgrade any armor im sure I will get 1 shotted anyway with it loomed or not

This game is about killing, so better loom your weapons first, then armor. I have +3 body and +3 hand armor and i'm still getting oneshoted :(
Title: Re: Archer build w/longbow

Well its normal because you cant really function with heavy armor when archer lol

So ill loom my longbow first to +3 then +1 my bodkins then +3 my broad short sword?

Thats my recommendation at the moment. Spending 2 looms to get 2 (4 with 2 stacks) extra arrows is not worth it in my opinion, if you get some left over looms i would get +3 bods but only when you aren't really using them for annything els. but i do have to say that your gear will be expensive, you will probally lose gold if you use bod, longbow and broad. I see a lot of archers looming Short arming sword (like steevee said), cause its strong but still pretty cheap. But if money is something you dont mind i would certainly loom Broad short sword.

I have a lot of money atm but I wanna be on the safe side so ill use short arming

Anything with low concentration of metal. Light leather or padded leather should be alright.

NOTE: You can easily wear anything lighter, but this is just in case you want to last little longer.

For head armor, Id recon anything light, such as light steppe cap, hood or anything.

Same for leg armor, just wear anything light that you want, for example woolen hose, hunter shoes or like.

Gloves are optional but leather gloves are good way to increase your body armor without any penalties.
