Title: Who is playing World of Tanks?
Post by: Ozan on November 13, 2013, 08:46:37 am
We are playing WoT like 5-6 players in my clan.Im thinking to build a WoT clan (need at least 15 player )which will have crpg players in it.We will use our ts channel. I want to learn who is playing Wot in crpg community?

WoT in a nutshell
I'd just wait for War Thunder to release their tanks. WoT mechanics are retarded, like cloaking ww2 tanks.

Whilst War Thunder tank mechanics are non-existent at this stage? Give it a break.
I was playing WoT, but kind of burnt out atm and too pre-occupied with other things. Maybe someday.

No, dont have a panther, totally didn't grind this for months.
Had to come back and add:
Game devs and community in agreement in WoT that using 3rd party visual add-ons and mods is allowed, so be aware that if you are playing vanilla WoT you are at a disadvantage since almost everyone uses the gfx mod so weak spots, shell racks, exhausts etc are all highlighted on enemy tanks in bright pastel colours. Have fun paying to win!

MWO has completely replaced WoT for me. It is ridiculous how long it takes to get a high level tank in WoT, whereas, in MWO, you can run the fattest Mech in under 50 matches, because there is no dependency tree. This works, because mechs never become redundant, even the cheapest mech has its role on the battlefield, not only as a scout, but as a fast skirmisher. The reason for this is because weapons do a lot less damage than in WoT. I don't think there is any loadout that can one-hit even the weakest mech in the game consistently. Also, there is no tiering, so you can play with your tiny 20 ton mech against a hulking 100 ton monster. Actually, there is tiering, but it is based on player win/loss ratio, not on the mech he's running.
There are so many more things that are better than in WoT, e.g. mech customization, weapon variation, the actual gameplay, maps, I could go on forever. Also, it has battlemechs instead of tanks, probably the only reason a sane man needs to immediately jump the boat.
The only bad thing about MWO is that development progresses sooooooooooo slowly. But what's there is great.

Truth is zagibu is right, I played WoT for a while but ultimately got bored shitless with the lame game mechanics and massive grinds, on the other hand I've been playing MWO since closed beta, albeit on and off in spurts, but it's far more fun in every possible way. They do need to speed up development in some places as thats the reason why I play it on and off but it's still a far superior game where having fun is concerned.

Playing actively (~9k games) in a clan already.

I stopped long ago. This shit was biassed as fuck towards russians.
Getting one shotted after I sneak up behind KV and shooting 5 shells in its back from pointblank range is one of most bullshit moments I ever experienced in MMO.
I am used to OP shit in mp games, but this was just over the top.

I admit that low tiers is fun, but once I got into tiers 5-6+ it as SO samey and boring, with very widespread useage of 3rd party software and pay2win tanks.
Although I used to play back when you had to be on teamspeak or something and say "3, 2, 1, GO" to play together without a subscription.

There's barely any pay2win nowadays. Yes, you CAN pay for some tanks to get em, which give you more credits, but that's about it, and they don't give those credits for free. If you play moderately well, you can still earn money on higher Tiers with no premium account and not spending one Cent / Pence on the game. The grind takes longer, but imo it's worth it. Got myself the Foch 155 yesterday and it's one of the greatest vehicles in the game imo, so much fun to play and so versatile, that with the combination of 1 Foch and 2 Heavy-Tanks in one Platoon, you can pretty much tank any corner you want against 5-7 enemies and come out alive at the end. The Foch is French, btw. Yes, some Russian tanks are strong, but so are some of the Germans, Brits, US and French tanks.

The pay2win aspect comes from the premium cash bought ammo, unless thats been removed?
Title: Re: Who is playing World of Tanks?
Post by: Lansamur on November 20, 2013, 09:19:15 am
It has, as in Goldammo is purchaseable for credits for almost a year now. It costs the amount of credits that it would take to convert gold->credits, so one shell e.g. costs 12 gold, which converts to 4800 credits. All of the Premium Consumables (Case of Cola, Coffee, Big Rep Kit etc) are also available for Creds, same as Camouflage. Pretty much everything is available for credits now, except Premium Account, Premium Tanks and Free-XP-Conversion.

Yeah but can you afford to pay for all that every match including tank repairs etc at high tiers?
Title: Re: Who is playing World of Tanks?

Well, you have to play rather good then, but it is possible. Don't get hit, hit everyone of your shots.... ;-)

Yeah that's not gonna happen at high tiers lol, that's where the whole pay2win aspect comes into it, which isn't an issue at low tiers. Not that I am personally bothered by this but it is a big negative for some people. I like using my Cromwell anyway, but overall I just get bored of the game, maybe it would be more fun playing in a group.

Cromwell seems like a boring tank anyway. I personally enjoy playing with tanks, that have autoloaders.

its very hard to pen. Foc 155 from front right?

Frontal plate? Yes. Bounced shots from JPE100 and Obj. 268 there when slightly angled. Got some weakspots on the top front though. But hey, Autoloader-TD with 750 avg-dmg per shot, 3 shells and 293mm pen on normal AP ammo.... :D

Seems? so you havent tried it? It is the most fun I had on WoT in all the different times I played it. But the game itself just gets boring for me, plus I find some of the game mechanics retarded, artillery included.

Post by: [ptx] on November 20, 2013, 01:52:31 pm
I have it, fully upgraded, is "seems" the wrong word?
Title: Re: Who is playing World of Tanks?
Post by: Leesin on November 20, 2013, 02:44:53 pm
Using seems in that way would usually imply that you havent tried it yourself and are just assuming from what you've seen of it. If you have it yourself and find it boring then you would say that you find it boring. Personally I love its speed and the gun penetration is great for the tier, certainly good fun using hit and run tactics and also for raping annoying artillery. Even my fun with that tank came to an end though, without any metagame or proper teamplay I eventually felt like I was just grinding with other grinders.

Played way too much in the past weeks, upgraded my Jagdpanter to Jagdpanther 2, from Panther to Königstiger, Jumbo to T20 and finally fully upgraded my E-50, and some other tanks.
Though, that mostly had to do with the X5 that one weekend.
Also, in case someone has a T-28 Prototype, would you go to the normal T28 or the T30?
I myself would like the normal T28 more, and of course the T95 afterwards, but that would take a long time for me anyways.

Got the T110E4, so I played through T28Prot and T30, but that was before the Gun-Accuracy-Buffpatch (hitting shots nearer to the middle of aimcircle, rather than a wider spread of shots) and T30 with the big gun was rather inaccurate. If you hit, it was always a nice little Boom, though. :D I personally liked the flexibility with the turreted TDs, as the T95 is too slow even for my tastes (and I got the Maus and E100 in my Garage, too). T95 has great armor, that's true, but it's sluggishness is just too great a weakpoint. Try both lines on the Testserver and you'll see which one you like more.
