Title: What does secondary mode do for 2handed and polearm?

What does secondary mode do for 2handed and polearm? I assume for 2h it turns into a polearm and for a polearm it turns into 2h, but I am not sure. Would any one mind telling me? Ty!

Secondary mode for 2h turns it into a polearm, secondary mode for polearm usually changes damage type. I.e., the Elegant Poleaxe alternate mode changes the grip so that you hit with the hammer side rather than the bladed side, dealing blunt and gaining Knockdown rather than cut (but with a considerable loss of damage).

Some 1 handed weapons can also be used with 2 hands if you switch to secondary mode.

With those things in mind, know also that some 2-handed weapons can be used as 1h's, but only with the aid of a shield. Weapons like the Mace, Bastard Sword, Goedendag. Additionally, Bastard Sword/Heavy Bastard Sword/Longsword can be switched into polearm mode with X and then be used as a spear type weapon with a shield (thrusts only).
