Title: My laptop
Post by: Tibe on November 09, 2013, 09:23:34 am
I basically got some laptop supercheap a little while ago and I think I might need some assistance here figuring this thing out. Its a HP Pavilion g6. I know, I know, HPs are sucky, but I got it cheap. Im not new at this PC thing, but this one is getting me stumped. I have some issue with the intergrated videocard. Its litterally so bad, that it even has hardships playin Solitare(not joking, im serious), let alone things like GTA2 or smthing.

Processor: AMD A8-4500M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics    (4 CPUs), ~1.9GHz

Ive reinstalled windows multible times to it and looked up all possible drivers I could and still nothing. And I couldnt find what the acctual videomemory of this PC should be and the dxdiag couldnt really figure out the approx. total memory. Please help. Also what does (4 CPUs) mean?

Going on a stretch here since I am too lazy to google the age of your laptop but...

...there used to be something called shared video memory. That basicly means that the video card uses part of the RAM as its memory. Considering you wrote it's some HD card, it's rather unlikely but you could check the BIOS if there is such an option.

Or maybe it's simply broken and that's reason for it being cheap? :?

Install latest beta driver:

Performance should be okay for games, certainly not the best but doable.

Use Everest (http://www.lavalys.com/products/everest-pc-diagnostics/) to see what your laptop has.

Then replace Windows with Linux Mint and install WINE so you can play M&B and watch all your problems and cares float away.

HP laptops aren't sucky. Pavilions are. HP has good business laptops.

Mother of fu...How did u?...Wat?...... It bloody worked. You have no idea how much I dicked around with drivers and other painful things and nothing worked. I love you Boerenlater and I want to have your babies. And thats really all I want out of a laptop. For it to be doable, but not utterly horrible. I have a tablePC for serius gamingstuff.
