Title: A special question, better if you are a history/educated person.

What real armor is the Eastern Star-Scale Armor based/modeled on, and what are its origins? I have never seen anything like it in real life or in history books. Is it purely fictional? Thanks!

Closest information I found led to Song era Heavy Cav. Now, its between classes so I really couldn't do proper research and check credibility. Best I can do is a shoddy link to some thread that has pictures of statues and from a book on chinese history.

Also, Random Video and link to the warband mod we borrowed from(in native language).

I have seen the star scale armor in a documentary before,  it is not fictional.  its principle is triangular stars that intertwine and give protection from blows of any direction,  au contrair to normal scales that are only layered and do not protect against plows with an upward motion.
