Title: barricades and fences to DTV
Post by: Afina on November 07, 2013, 07:19:05 am
Good day.
barricades and fences to DTV need added. as there are cards that do not have not any fences, Stairs, houses which could be taken away and the players pretty very difficult to cope with the waves on the sea riders. I think it would be nice if you added the ability to use barikad
Wooden Stakes     http://c-rpg.net/img/items/large/itm_wooden_stakes.png
or
Siege Shield    http://c-rpg.net/img/items/large/itm_siege_shield.png
These fences can help deter the onslaught of the players a little strong forces

I dont think the DTV Bots are clever enough to destroy stakes. That makes Stakes very abusable on DTV.

Siege Shield are discussable, but they also can be used to block a certain way for the Bots, means abusable aswell.

I agree, but there should be a limit per map. like 2 stakes and 3 shields ?

That's also the reason why constr site were never allowed in the first place, you could just put it on an important spot and all the bots would get stuck

Yup, bots don't see siege equipment as stuff to attack, only as an obstacle. If they can't go around it, they get stuck. :(
On the other hand, if they'd make them attack those sort of structures do you think they'd hold for longer than 4 seconds anyway? Shields, stakes, this shit is WEAK :P

One set of stakes in front of the viscount, siege shield behind and to both sides....

Oh look we win every round.

Items like this will just be abused and take any level of challenge/skill out of DTV.

This will never be added, for the simple reason that bots don't attack destructible equipment.

but, in principle, bots can destroy these barriers

You kind of need the bots to get stuck to even have a hope of beating this game mode.  I don't see why people are worried about abusing obstacles when its practically a requirement to win...

The difference is the way the bots get "stuck"

A good map is where you can leer the bots to a roof/hut/barn/bridge etc. However without a player there to leer the bots they will go straight to the virgin/viscount.

eg yaragar, istiniar, rizi, Pagundur, Kulum, Haen, Buvran

A bad map is where the bots get stuck behind a tree/rock/etc where even without player interference some bots wont make it to the virgin/viscount.

eg Glunmar, Bulugur, Buillin, Azgad

Some have both which makes good maps, ok but annoying eg Aldelen, Serindiar, Burglen

So yes, you need something to draw the bots away from the virgin/viscount. However, anything that completely stops the bots ruins the map. So, if you use stake and siege shield to block access to the virgin/viscount every map becomes "winnable" but it will be boring and abusive.

We need more maps with tactical locations (burns/huts etc) not equipment we can deploy for 'easy win'.
One of the best features of yaragar is that the fence is low and glitchy. This means that the bots can still shoot and swing at players and occasionally bots get past the fence.

Even with bots getting stuck by the map itself, I've never had an easy win (or even a win).  When they get ranged in the later waves, they headshot all day.

I think we should do anything we can to make DTV actually winnable at least 1/3 of the time.

There's a difference between winning 1/3rd of the time and winning every single time

It would be cool if we had a completely open DTV map and just laid down siege shields to make the longest maze possible, like a tower defense with ballistas on towers nearby, with some sort of mechanic that detects space in between siege shields and cant be less than ~1 meter~ and destroys the last placed shield if it exceeds that space-minimum. .
