many people talk about why the Virgin is being defended, most people believe that we(the players) are there to defend the most beautiful virgin maiden from being raped at the hands of evil disgusting criminals.......
i laugh when i tell them they got the whole thing wrong.....
you see, we actually KIDNAPPED the virgin, yes, KIDNAPPED her, and have waited in whatever village hideout waiting for the ransom money from her loving father....
....of course that father would rather not pay US, so instead he hires mercenaries to try and kill us to save his daughter...first hiring petty serfs and bandits...then gradually, as the situation becomes more desperate for him, hires better trained, better armed and tougher sellswords....
at that point, i get asked, "wait.....but why do they beat off the virgins clothes if their rescuing her?".....
good question.....you see, we(theplayers/kidnappers) before having to tangle with the waves of enemies, had woven thick, super heavy metal into her clothes, that were then chained to the ground by her ankles (her dress covers her ankles), this leaves her immobile, but also able to take quite a beating....which is why, when the mercenaries get to her, they have to beat on her in hopes of breaking off her heavy clothes.
now...those days are past, you see, the virgins father didnt completely pay off the merc's he hired, as he ran out of money.....becoming desperate, he quickly sold off his land and used the money to hire the very same people who kidnapped his daugther to PROTECT him from those merc's.....so here he is, in your village hideout, half paralyzed by fear.......this is why we now have "Defend the viscount"
....i wasted too much time making up that stupid story.....
