Title: Another Trade Fail
Post by: Ulmarth on November 06, 2013, 01:53:06 pm
So last night i was browsing the marketplace and saw an obvious mistake made by the player Lothar_the_Slayer_II in which he wanted to trade a +1 Elegant Poleaxe for a normal Warhammer. As i had heard about these fail trades before i figured i would trade it and msg the guy. So i did the trade and played on sum more waiting for this guy to maybe msg me as i dont need money or this item atol i kept it on my main chara.

Today when i got up and checked the webpage i do now have a msg, in which he asks for his weapon back and that he has made a new trade. He also posts a link to the rule that i was following in the first place.

THEN the problem, i go to the marketplace and find out this guy wants money on top of his item back. This would mean he profits on me being a good guy and following rules. So i went into IRC and asked a few of the guys. They said not to worry and to make a forum post, so here i am.

So far i have msged this guy back asking him to take away the money on top this trade and i will trade back no problem. He still has not replyed so i made this post.

What do i do now? Will i still have to give item back if this guy is tryin to blackmail me?

Kind Regards

Unless he removes the gold, keep the weapon. He's probably just trying to get one over on a kind person such as yourself.

If you made a very reasonable attempt to reverse the trade you should be able to keep it after a while if he's messing around. Just make sure you get back your war hammer or gold value too

true, warhammer is not cheap. Infact, YOU should ask for money also, since this guy is giving you the runaround.

Publicly putting the shame on that guy is what cRPG forum is what about.

Well done, since that guy is indeed unworthy of any trust.
Save his loomed weapon, waiting for a gentle "please give back", but he even has to show the rules, and try to add gold in th transaction.

If i didn't know better, i'd say this Lothar_the_Slayer_II is used to doing all this to actually scam in gold poor fellow who accepted his previous transaction.
In fear of a bad reputation, or worse, they'll do the reverse trade adding money on top of it. Filthy Lothar indeed.

Purpose of this thread is both to draw attention to the fact, that, if this is indeed an attempt at blackmail, such things simply won't go through, as well as to establish a precedent - AFAIK, no one has done such a thing before (or, at least, not been reported).

To which i sent this reply :

And he did, and i traded back the poleaxe.

Case closed i guess unless he was trying to safe face (my paranoid side of the brain)

But yea thank you to ptx for the advice. And can lock thread.
