Title: PSA: basic steps on how to deal with guys trolling chat

step 1. dont respond to him, your just gonna fuel the fire and make him continue if you get angry and insult him, (your tears are music to his ears)

step 2. press "Esc"

step 3. click on mute player

step 4. find trolls name and mute said troll........

step 5. enjoy your day



for the love of god people, if someones acting up in chat, MUTE HIM, it makes things 10x less frustrating
and this is coming from a guy who gets muted ALL the time and frankly doesn't give a single fuck about it

I know of some people who just turn off the in-game chat in the settings. simple solution.

oh come on, the global chat makes this game so fucking amazing.
You will have to look really good for a game where the players know each other so well and are constantly talking on the chat.

I never mute anyone. I hate getting half a conversation way more than I hate someone being an asshat in a chat.

There's an option in the  option/multiplayer tab to mute either chat or team chat.

There's also Ctrl+Shift+M, and unmuting chat with Ctrl+Shift+U, which mutes and unmutes both team chat and all chat.

"Trolling" for the sake of humor is sometimes entertaining. Sometimes not. It doesn't bother me enough that I'd ever mute anyone. Your mileage may vary, though. I enjoy shoehorning a "your mom" joke into allchat at least once per gaming session. I'm sure some people roll their eyes and wish they didn't have to read it, but welp. You did.

If someone is actually being malicious with their trolling, I'm an admin. They'll stop.  :twisted:

there is a combo of keys that you can press to do it, but i can not remember it for the life of me

Definitely not feeding trolls is good
...but I love that no one has thought "hey, lets attack this problem from the other side" and address trolls, for example:

Stop being 12 year old loser internet trolls and play the game.  If you get a rise out of pissing someone off through the anonymity of the internet what does that say about you?  If you're bored with the game, go the fuck outside...or better yet, get a job.

But, I suppose that will be just wasted breath on the wastes of space whom are internet trolls.  "U mad bro?" :rolleyes:

Better than muting the guy is just telling him you muted him, then just ignore his comments when his next 5 minutes are dedicated to telling everyone how little he cares that you muted him. It's even better when you have a friend who waits for 5 minutes and then tell's the guy: Dude, I'm muting you now too, and watch him type all that shit again. usually he will be kickpolled for being afk cause of his excessive typing, or gets couched by a GK my old friend at spawn while he types hisn witty bullshit.

This is one of those things that never stops being funny to me. Usually do this in dota rather than  crpg though
