Title: Thrower build
Post by: Goat_Fighter on November 04, 2013, 01:08:34 am
I couldn't find any thrower builds even on the thread of Solid builds

so I was wondering what build I should go with I was wanting to go 2h but im deciding I know that

thrower is a bit expensive but I was wondering what build I should use for it? and what throwing weapon I should use
and what armor but most importantly the build itself
but I was wanting to use the jarid? but im not sure if that's the best one to use just post below builds

thanks in advance (sorry if this is the wrong thread section I couldn't find anywhere else anyone would be)

As a previous thrower, which if played right can be great fun! I used one of the following:

(click to show/hide)
(click to show/hide)

Both of which are nice builds and meant I could use throwing and a melee using 3 stacks of throwing weapons (axes were a personal favourite but jarrids are also a good choice) and a 1h weapon or a 1 slot 2h or if you use axes 4 stacks (since axes are a nice melee weapon too)

However if you aren't interested in a hybrid build and would prefer a pure thrower I would think a build something like this would be nice:

(click to show/hide)
this gives you a good punch with your throws and gives you nice agility to run in and shotgun the enemy.

Throwing also sucks with accuracy which is why I think the shotgun approach would work better and after around 120 weapon points throwing only increases the rate of your throws. I must say though I have not tried a pure thrower before so I suggest trying it out with a STF first to see what its like. 7 PT also means you can use any throwing weapon.

As for armour go light, anything bellow a weight of 11. Keeps you light and agile as well as making the most of those weapon points.

I would check out this guide too, it has lots of goodies
http://forum.melee.org/guides/the-art-of-throwing-ii/ (http://forum.melee.org/guides/the-art-of-throwing-ii/)

apart from that I am pleased that you have chose throwing so good luck and most importantly have fun. :)

Huh. I mainly play a pure thrower, but I've always done 21/18 (when i want lances) or 18/21 (when I want greater speed). I'll have to try that 21/21 idea myself now... sounds kind of interesting.

I'd say Jarids are probably the 'best' throwing weapon right now, since heavy throwing axes got the ammo nerf.

If you wish to be an ice cold mother fucker

12/27

4pt

max ath and WM

max throwing

use squat all armour and run, run forest run.

Or go 9/30 and use loomed throwing daggers for the lols.

Just don't go too heavy on the armour. You don't want to have wpf penalties.
Myself: I use heraldic mail, mail mittens, no head armour and rus cav boots.
Just make sure you'll pick light gloves and helmet. Those two affect wpf the most.

You should know what weapon you want to use and thus the power throw requirement before going for a build.

I got an alt myself that is 21/21 and I have yet not invested any skill points into WM.
The accuracy is good enough with only 109 throwing at lvl 29 which I'm currently at (using very light armor).
So far I've only invested in PT (7) and Athletics (7) and I manage to do pretty well.

As with all classes it's a good idea to take a look at the very best of players.
In this case you should look at Fin and Farooq for example.
You could often see them both on EU_4 but sadly that server is no longer available...

PS. There is also a thrower only clan called "The tossers" which Farooq is leader of.

If you're going melee hybrid i would suggest a more melee orientated build like 21/15 or 24/15.

I'm playing a hybrid thrower with 21/15 (also 2h) and most of the time (like 75%) I'm fighting with my mace, the throwing things are just some kind of extra for me.
With 100-110 wpf in throwing and 6 PT, you can also wear pretty decent medium armor.

21/15

24/15
