Nether is a first-person urban survival gaming experience unlike any other. Nether forces players to make quick life-saving decisions in an unforgiving environment. In this post-apocalyptic urban world, death is waiting around every corner, at the top of high-rise buildings, and in the grasp of powerful teleporting creatures known as Nethers. To navigate this high-tension environment, players must use skill and craft in order to obtain food, weapons, supplies, and other resources necessary to survive in a desolate and dangerous city. Players will need to choose whether or not to team up with others or go at it solo against the Nethers, other players, and unpredictable, treacherous world objectives. In the end, players must decide if they will Prey or Pray.

Features:

Day Z style game, looks interesting enough.

Anyone got any experience with it?

It looked good when I checked it out but memories of WarZ came flooding back and then I just wasnt sure, so I am gonna wait a while and see if this game isnt easily hacked by the thousands of russians that will try to do so.

Doesn't look impressive, tbh.

Also, on request of Vibe, the mute king:

Sweet lord this looks horrible. The extremely beautiful pictures and a trailer completely avoiding any actual gameplayfootage make complete sense now.

there so many dayZ / minecraft / mmo  type games coming out its becoming really challenging to remember which is which. I thought this was the one the ex-stalker guys were making.

I hope at least one of the many hundreds of them turns out to be a great game, because I'm starting to doubt dayz standalone is ever going to live up to the potential I saw when I first played dayz.

i saw this about a month ago, i was kind of yearning for a good zombie apoc. survival with pvp to hold me over till dayz comes out, but they had me once i seen the gameplay footage of teleporting zombie squid things.  I was like "oh nvm, this took a turn for the worst, and now looks like shit".

The WarZ/Infestation (Hammerpoint) people has nothing to do with the Nether (Phosphor Games) team.
They just use the same lawyer for trademark registration and handling (he handles their 'front' in Delaware, whereas the studio is in Chicago), nothing more nothing less. There's zero connection between the two in any regard what so ever, everything else is just stupid rumors by stupid people who have no clue about how this stuff works. Not to mention that the lawyer they're using also handles a lot of other companies, such as Atari etc:
I have Nether, had it for a while, so far nothing has worked, new problem every day preventing people from playing it. I have my doubts its any good, but I wanted to check the PvP aspect out, see if they did anything creative with the game. Alone the fact that they've made a huge urban map is reason enough to want to test it out though IMO.

There is also Rust and 7 days to die. I tried 7 days to die but i'm not a fan of minecraft so i dumped it. Anyone tried Rust?
As for Nether i would of bought it but it seems too similar to DayZ, the only major difference is that it has a temporary safe zone and levels but that wasn't enough to make it interesting.

Nether is nothing like DayZ.

Yeah, one is an obviously shitty game and the other one is an over rated bore fest.

You can't deny it doesn't look similar to WarZ, the interface, menu, picking up stuff, even the buildings remind me of WarZ - and this is from my own observations, not PsySyndicates.

And the in game shop. For the time being i think they stopped selling weapons for cash. Guess people complained about it being p2w :D

I've played it a little bit, the urban map is great, major kudos to the level designer (Will) on that.

Otherwise, everything else seems quite lackluster, from animations to gameplay. The NPC (AI) is quite tough though, mostly you want to avoid them unless you have guns, and even so only if you can spare the ammo.

Not a big fan of the 'FPS POV'-only either, would prefer having third person available as well despite the disadvantage it can have on gameplay.

I'm going to check it out again once it progresses a bit more, but for now it's definitely shelved.

The way i see the game so far is like a random shooter game with multiplayer (no massive here) that also features aggressive bots (nethers). The survival feature doesn't count, everyone is trying to see how many kills they can get in one life. Maybe this will change in time and i hope it does cause the visuals and the setting is great.
