Title: Problem with strat is the same as the problem with the marketplace
Post by: Penitent on October 24, 2013, 08:50:45 pm
There was a perceived problem with strat (NA at least) that so many people and clans were just holding on to fiefs and hoarding troops/equipment that no one fought and it was stagnated and boring.  This has recently changed with community events and Gobblin invasions mixing things up.  Guess what -- its fun again!

The market place has stagnated in the same way.  I see people with handfuls of loom points, dozens of looms, and hundreds of thousands of gold and nothing is going on.

If you have more than 2 loom points, what is the point of holding them?  Use them or trade them.  If you have over a million gold -- what is the point?  Buy something or use it in a trade!

Lets keep things moving so old and new players have some options here.
New players are consistently told not to loom things, but sell the LP and buy something on the market.  There really are not really many options for this since everyone is hoarding their shit.

Let's keep things moving people.  Don't be a hoarder or you may end up on some TV show, embarrassed and ashamed.

Love,
-Yours truly

based on the title I was going to say "no decent polearms" but this is a good point too

maybe have tax-free days (or weeks), get the market a-flowing?

I've only ever used the marketplace to sell loompoints, the whole item trading business is too damn complicated for me

I'll help you trade things for a small commission.  We both win. :)

It's actually a really fun part of the mod, like a mini-game, that adds depth.  I love it!

Well I think its a general rule of thumb now that you should +3 something from scratch. You can normally trade 2 looms and gold for something instead of +3ing it.

Also as for the money part, fuck if I know. Maybe someone will buy a +3 with gold, maybe they just like the safety net of never having to worry about repairs. Maybe they just haven't decided to run with a +3 plated charger and +3 full plate and just wreck shit for lelz.

I think that the title of nobility, and heirloom exchange, blacksmith service ect, is pretty legit for a money dump...

I see what you mean, and there are some legit points.
However, I think that "money dumps" are just as bad a hoarding.  We need the wealth to circulate, trickle down, etc.  Lets get the economy moving between players!

If second jobs are your thing. I find the market a cancer, just like looms anyway. You know why I never trade my looms, because everytime I get in that market I have to spent half an hour reading up on current prices so I don't get ripped off by dirty market sharks looking to make a profit. While I really just want to spend my time actually playing the game.

Looms in current state are silly. And I say it as someone who owns more mw items than actually needs (though trading on the market was pretty funny I have to say). Upgrades - nay, tradeoffs - yay. High lvls are even more silly, I'd even say high lvls are gay.
