personally id like to see phase vs. sax but there is many skilled players apart from them and i think it would be a really fun competition to witness :) it takes two for a tango though so... we need everyone to attend! :D as many as human possible! :D
edit: im DYING to watch phase vs. sax in a prescheduled duel where they both are fit for fight :D

i guess just no crushthru weps maul and such. i just think 2h or i guess pole take most skill. im a shielder, i suck at blocking, i dont duel, i battle :p but if its gonna happen i will gladly attend and also train to try do a fair attempt :) id be pwned early though :p

heres some of the rules templars used in previous internal duel tornements, mainly to keep things fair. i'm NOT sayin u should use these, just helpful suggestion
1- STF only 2- no looms 3- 15,000gold gear limit 4- no knockdown abuse (no kicking or hitting on the ground) 5- no crush through 6- first to 9 wins is winner

personally i dont mind looms and gear and levels what not... its a crpg hero in all his glory not just who is the better duelist but also who has the better character/build/gear selection. imo. :) i think it will be fun to be level 30 some with close to no looms and then face a fully loomed hero who won several duels before me :D
and also i wouldnt mind kick/knockdown spam (no crush thru weps) and hitting when down... it should be sorta MMA crpg :D but thats just if i were the one to decide :)
ultimately yeah i guess it comes down to duelskills and not gear looms so sure i can go with that... i just think other would be lol and interesting. no secret builds and gear/looms so on
would best out of 3 be too hardcore? lol

they were just the rules we used, to make a completly fair (as possible) duel tornement, personally i dont mind looms, most people have some. the stf was just an idea to keep things fair as people retire often and winning a duel tonement at lvl 22 would be pretty much impossible against someone like tommmyys lvl 33 2hand spam skill. to me it doesnt really matter anyway because i cant see me winning any competitive duels agaist actually good players.
we found 3 was too low, someone just need to get lucky twice to win, but like i said these are just rules we used before, not necessarily what is best for what u plan

That would be a real fun tournament :
Everyone with weapons of a similar size/speed/damage (not counting the exceptional weapons) will make for interesting duels because it puts everyone on a similar level.
The best duels arent those where you play paper against rock, but where both players have papers and got to dominate by other means : the Skill.

yeah i think so too. i mean ive watched a lot of duels on youtube but 98% of them was native duels and they are boring! no proper feints and well... it just doesnt look as awesome and you are not able to trow "combos" like we can here in crpg. i also think it would be nice PR for crpg, maybe it will generate more new players :)

and just for the lols, the price could be a +3 flamberge :D maybe even a special +3 flamberge in a special 2013 color :D then next year the color of the price flamberge will change to a 2014 color :D ppl may not want a flamberge as such but its the most expensive sword. if we are allowed a special colored sword (normal stats) i guess we could pick any 2hand sword. it should not be possible to trade away a tournament sword to marketplace auction or npc.

Im gonna go with Panos here. 2h tournaments bore me to hell now. And since they also buffed 1h stab. In both meleeduel cases it would be a "s" key backpedalstabattacks all the way. I think id enjoy archer vs archer duels a lot more, where they use nothing but a bow. That would be hilarious to watch.

I feel like this would be great, if you enforced builds designed to make duels interesting. Something along the lines of very high WM (to make blocking at least somewhat difficult), but only moderate ath (to prevent duels from degrading into constant s-keying).
Enforcing cloth armor would also go a long way to making the duels more fun to play & watch.
e: You could also allow loomed weapons, for the increased damage and speed. Just have some volunteers drop loomed weapons for people to pick up and duel with, to keep things on a level playing field. You could even set up a weapon crate, so that the volunteers don't have to constantly spechop to get more weapons to drop.

That would make it interesting, but it'd be kind of pointless then, no? If you're going to have duels in cRPG, people shouldn't be forced into certain builds or certain armor sets. I'd love a tournament, but with an unlimited choice of classes really. All people that play cRPG could have been fully loomed by now, I personally think STF and no looms would just make it boring .

Str builds in duels is the easiest thing ever. I dont think people normally afraid of even being hit even once, while having to hit the other guy 6 times, will find any difficulty playing a str build.
Anyway, there is 2 ways of doing this, it seems. If you choose to use a STF approach, you ruin the customization, which is basicly what c-rpg is about, but it would make it more fair. If you let people go with their mains, then they can use the character that they actually worked on developing, but it would make it more unfair, since people do not have the same gear and level.
There might be a sweetspot between the 2 that i just cant see, but to me it seems like you have to pick one or the other.

it's like.. every poster here pro 2handers who use some brilliant tactics to beat opponent up.and it takes a huge effort to organize a tournament.discussing it in forums is one thing.making it real is another.

well its crpg... i want to do battles fully loomed but i cant cus i havent played long enough to get that amount of looms. and to me its perfectly all right. if i beat someone fully loomed in tournament, my epeen will be so much bigger. siege, battles and strategus isnt balanced, why should tournament be balanced? :lol:
think about it, a real life tournament is also unbalanced cus ppl are not equally strong and trained.
ultimately it all comes down to brains.

but well... we aint suppose to decide on the rules and shit here now in this thread, this just brainstorm and to see what community thinks and so far it looks ok to me :)
