As my friend Gmnotutoo would say, "follow your heart." Also, good to see you back around brother. I remember the HA days, you were still admin (I think) and a member of LLJK!

I followed your route up to lvl 32 :

You could choose to invest in athletics instead of power strike, but I prefer to be able to fight and not flee when the time has come! The rest of the time, I'm on my dear steppe horse +3 in light armor setup.

With nomad bow + tatar arrows = sniping machine gun

- deadly (overkill with charge bonus) on low armored opponents,
- good (deadly with charge bonus) on medium,
- bad (good with charge bonus) on heavy,
- useless (bad with charge bonus) on ultra heavy.

So it only suffers from lack of power against tanks, the rest is powned pretty fast.
Consequently, it sucks in strategus battles  :P

That's the standard-issue HA build, works like a charm.  Just don't expect to mow down plate armour or cataphracts without +3 Bodkins and a +3 Horn Bow.

You can also trade 1 WM for 1 Riding if you want the pricier Arabian horse.

Apparently 18/21 with 6PD/Yumi Bow works well, but I've always preferred the precision accuracy of 4 HA.

I love the model of the yumi and its stats are built around HA. The drawback of low missile speed is negated by the positioning and close range shots a horse allows. 18/24 is amazing and can be done without going super high level if you take nothing but pure HA skills (no PS, no ath, etc.). 6 PD is also good if it's your main since you can do foot archer on strat fief battles where HA has no use for your team. But this is your alt.

8 riding and 4 HA skill make the class much less of a headache to play. If I had to go for a level 30 build I'd do pretty much exactly what you posted.

Hey,
I am new here so have one stupid questions about HA. (I will try to build one)
What kind of bad effects you will have if you use heavy armors as HA?  :?

It will lower your effective archery wpf.
So :
-loss of accuracy
-slight loss of damage

It won't slow you down though, since you're on a horse. And doesn't affect your riding at all.

Yup 15/24 always works, you could even do 12/24 to get higher riding, 4ps and a decent side-arm prof at level 30. Messed around a bit with 6pd HA builds with some decent melee capabilities was well. The 6pd and up builds work okay in strat as well due to most bows being rus/long.

I agree HA is funny class, but the problem is, it's not working for like half of the maps. You are screwed on a town map, map with plenty hideouts for foot ranged, heavy fog (even light fog is sometimes a problem), rain (affects HA damage and horse speed/mauver), night. When i'm playing HA, i'm skipping most of these maps. But since they appears very often, I can't really enjoy the game for longer time. If i'm lucky I can play 2 or 3 maps in a row as HA. No other class is affected by map and weather so much.

Pretty much final build for HA is imo:
(click to show/hide)
HA is all about shooting from horse, so there's no sense to go for PS or ATH. If you lose your horse, you are dead most of the times anyway, few more ATH or PS won't help you much here. Especially, i'm taking 3 quivers of bodkins, so I don't even have a slot for sword.

I prefer Yumi, like Elf Princess does - maybe it's not that accurate long range, but it has noticable better damage than Horn Bow. That's why I suggest 18/24 build - it gives you possibility to use Yumi. You can also go 15/27 build, but imo it's better to have slightly more damage that a bit better accuracy at this stage.

Since devs changed HA accuracy formula few months ago, HA with 174 wpf in archery and 4 HA skill has similar accuracy to ~155 wpf foot archer without HA skill. Even when you don't use a horse, your accuracy is reduced, so it's better to make two chars if you want to play strategus as archer - HA for normal servers and foot archer for strategus. Of course fastest way to exp your HA char (or any other char) is strategus .

Anyway, on some maps, i'm having a lot of fun as HA currently.
