Title: SOMA
Post by: Grumbs on October 07, 2013, 10:49:26 pm
Frictional Games (Amnesia: Dark Descent, not Machine for Pigs) have been releasing some teaser trailers for an upcoming game

http://somasystems.org/#4017

Seems to be some kind of hidden stuff in the website too, kind of like how Portal 2 was advertised (can't remember the real name for this type of viral marketing)

Wow that's.. amazing.

Has an SCP feel to it, but with machines. This is awesome.

Immunity to error through misidentification.

Quite so, verily so.

 Afraid of alienation from cRPG community?

Heh, scratch that, I'm so bad.

I wish I had a translator for schizo-English...

Following this. Definitely seems like the sort of game i'd like.

Certainly not a repetitive gameplay, but a good unique experience.

I can tell you a secret, schizo. Eugen Bleuler was a friend of my great-grandfather. Now on to the secret, and what most of the world doesn't know: The man who described schizophrenia was the imaginary friend of a man who did nothing else but describe his own condition. It is one of the universe's greatest accomplishments so far.

Is there an water park in your town? If there is, bring laptop with you and sneak up into it at night. Sit down near the huge water tank with sharks, put on headphones and start playing SOMA.

When it comes to Amnesia, local ruin or cabin in the woods and same setup on stormy night.

Can't remember the right term for it. Not talking about water park where kids are going with their parents to swim and play in water.

bought and completed it, not as scary as amnesia. has a nice story and pretty nice selection of environments and quite a few different monsters. took about 8 hours to complete but I guess it depends how long the puzzles take you

Few screenshots, nothing too spoilerish

Deep dark sea is my Kryptonite so it might be of higher influence IF there are monsters in the sea.

Took me about 12 hours, but I tried to do as much of the optional stuff as possible.

Definitely not as scary as Penumbra or Amnesia, but a fairly engaging story makes up for that.
