Admins shouldn't be allowed to make decisions in ban reqs against or by their clanmates.
Even worse, the banthread doesn't even follow the banthread rules, as can be seen here: http://forum.melee.org/eu-(official)/ban-request-requirements-read-this-first!/
BAN REQUEST FORM:
1. Name of your character involved
2. Name of offending character(s)
3. Time and server, as accurately as possible
4. Written description of what happened, the whole story. Also what happened before and after.
5. Why you think the offender did what he did.*
6. Multiple Screenshots
7. Names of players who witnessed what happened.**
Also you can't possibly be banned for calling someone a bundle of sticks once...
In a case like this with only one screenshot it is clear that nothing should've been done unless several witnesses who weren't HRE stepped forward, and heck, even No_Rules, who was on that server at the time, confirmed it was punches and therefore not really real team attacks, the screen also shows that nightmare stopped punching him after being m'd.
well, if he wants you to stop punching him, i guess he has the fullest right to report it. It's just a warning from his side, saying: 'man stop this shit, I'm not in the mood'.
If you are punching someone, I guess you are in a quite happy state of mind, so you shouldn't bother if some people don't want to 'play with you'.
A guy was hitting me earlier and doing very little damage, but I got annoyed from the stuns and the sound so I reported him too. He stopped, that's it. no drama.
You can clearly see that he stopped hitting after the reports reach 4/5.
Us oldmy old friends already know to stay away from Tazman cuz he's raging like a 6yrs old but that doesn't make the ban any better.
Especially Fips' argument "It's Tazman, you better not fool with him!" should have given him enough insight to not ban and just warn instead.
Anyway, annoying that things like this happen once in a while and yes, handling ban requests from clanmates is unlucky and best be avoided... but in the end no real harm done. Maybe it can be a lesson for the future: Don't handle clannies ban requests and don't trust HRE-Chief of Police Tazman with anything really :P
As former Bandit I/we had a special relationship with some of the HRE members in the past. Tazman was standing out :D
fisting each other is a common crpg courtesy and an act of friendly communication. a banthread initiated because of that should get the banthread creator banned, as he needs time to think about proper crpg etiquette and his place in the community.
This.
Punching serves an actual purpose. Either it's just friendly "Hello! I am bored and what about you?" to fool around a little or to make someone realize that he just did something stupid, e.g. after a teamhit you go the archer responsible and punch him once.
In all my time, I've never been punched with really bad intent.
One thing tho: Keep in mind who you are punching. Archer and Ninja for example use mainly squishy builds with low armor and low health. Punching as strength whore with plated gloves does quite a lot of damage! Doesn't work for Tazman tho since he is HRE siege player = high armor and high strength
