Title: 1h vs 2h vs shield
Post by: Rebelyell on October 03, 2013, 02:06:42 am
What is your opinion about balance between  them?
Do you think 1h sacrefife enought just to be able go in pair with shield or you you think that shield should be not consider in balance between them?Do  ypu think 2h can also be use with shield in any usefull way?
Shield should be consider as utility item or necessary fight toll?

If you want you can use cavalry aspect  in your arguments.

Also I love if you can avoid posts of type:
2h op or
1h shield no skill autoblock ect.

I think it's good. Shield needs to be a better utility item for both 1h and 2h in regards to shield weight and low tier shields.

This is a complex issue.

To me its an equation involving "fun" for the majority, player Skill vs player Skill and Time invested into the game.

Lots of subjective stuff there, but for me as it stands now "fun" for majority means we have lots of time wasted during rounds that could be avoided by good game developers

Skill vs Skill could be tweaked a shit tonne by good players playing all the classes and determining what actions require more skill than others

Time invested is too far geared towards guys that no-life the game, but I 100% acknowledged the requirement to reward /timeplayed. Its just too much as is

Basically Shit devs, Shit item unbalancers. Good luck getting anything changed though

Shielder vs 2hander fighting is quite balanced, the only thing that might be improved is reducing the weight of shields so that non-1h classes could make any use if it.

The only place shields are effective is in the imagination of archers.

i think they are fine, except for the encumberance issue with smaller shields [idk why i still move like snail with knightly heater shield and 6ath]

Shielders are worse now because cRPG is the land of phasing and lag. Meaning people teleport through you and hit you in the back. Same happens with 2h, but it's less noticeable because of the greater range. Group fights nowadays are the most hilarious, everyone just phasing through each other and hitting thin air.

well, you gotta admit that the got a little love with that stab. people say it is op, but i am not buying that. also, you speak of lag, but my ping got about 40% better since last patch, keeping steady fourties. which is by the way better than in league of legends, where i have average of 60.

Shield + 1hd suffers a bit from the current state of the kick cone imo. You need to get in close with your 1hd and if you keep your shield up you're slow, so it's not really an art to kick and chop you. Still works fine against ranged or when supporting team mates with longer weapons, but 1hd/shield is definitely not as powerful against polearm/2hd as it used to be.

Ping has nothing to do with it.

Ping has nothing to do with it.

ping is ammount of time in miliseconds of how much time it takes to receive and send data from your pc to server.

it is practically the only thing that matters. lag is caused by high ping.

edit: so this means that only laggers phase.

Ping has nothing to do with it.

sometimes when people get hit they act like ghost and just go thru peoples but for me it is extremely rare

High ping is a cause for lag, but not the only one.
There can be other things (like packet loss) that also create lag.

I'm glad we've managed to reach the point where you no longer state things as facts that you know nothing about.

Shields save my ass and enable to stay alive longer in 1 vs many situations all the time.  Also very helpful for blocking a couched lance, or taking arrows that would otherwise hit my body.
