Title: Costume Party, ideas?

So yeah, I got like a month, even though it's about "hell-o-weenie", anything goes in the party.

I wanted to dress up like an officer with an uniform, and a pistol replica or something, but I can't really find clothes like that.

Longish army trench coat, officer cap, that kinda stuff. Also as fun it would be to walk around streets in a chocolate chip cookie uniform, that's bloody expensive.


So, any alternatives, or ideas on how I could do the look? I accept other ideas too.

Where do you live?

Finding surplus/secondhand Army stuff is extremely easy here. Might be able to get some and send it to you.

- a giant Teddybear (ladies' favourite...not an easy costume, though)

Actually I managed to find some interesting stuff after doing some searches but hot damn. Some are either in crappy condition, or don't look the way I'd like it to look. This hungarian oldschool cap looks cool though, I might get one

Sizes also confuse me a bit. I'm just used to: "Hey I wear L"

Got one of these myself this Friday. As I won't be going home inbetween class and the party I'll be keeping it simple and dress up like Charlie Chaplin. Partly because it is the only excuse someone has these days to have a hitler stache. Bringing a blazer, bowler hat and a cane and I'll draw myself a nice hitler stache with some eye liner. Put some eye liner round the eyes and done.

Technically I would need a vest and oversized pants and shoes, but I doubt my audience is that familiar with Chaplin, so as long as I do a silly walk with a silly expression as I come in I should be fine. My experience with these kinda things is that you don't wanna overdo it because your costume only matters the first 10 minutes and after that its just a party. Just do enough to not be that guy wearing in the sweatpants and t-shirt.

You could go as a Mexican or something, just need a poncho, sombrero and an enormous (fake) mustache. 15 euros in any party shop should get you a long way. You need a sombrero in your daily life anyway, everyone does. Preferably you also need a ukelele and be able to play some mariachi, shit that is what I need to do for the next party. You could also buy a full costume, like a military one. Will cost you a little more and I tend to think they look shit and cheesy, but if you got money and are lazy. One shitty costume I find hilarious is one of dem Superman muscle shirts. Those are boss.

Ah yes I know not to overdo it, but I'd like to go a step higher this year, last year I had one week and I just put on a Suit and was an Agent/M.I.B guy with sunglasses who helped to write the guest list and welcomed guests, it was cool.  :mrgreen:

Edit: I might consider the mexicano idea, I like instruments so why the hell not, although being a badass while smoking a cigar in a stereotype way isn't bad either  :mrgreen:

My wife is pregnant (6 months now, will be about 7 at Halloween) so I'm putting my "Yip Yip" costume desires on hold til next year (You can buy these online for around $50, which is something I'm going to do rather than try to make it myself). 

This year she's going to go as a pregnant nun and I'm going to go as the priest who knocked her up

- Badass black raincoat/trench coat (smear some dirt all over it)
- A cool hat.
- A vest.
- Leather shoes.
- Some fine pants (the hook man is a vengeful spirit of a priest Jacob Karns who punishes sinners).

For our Haloween 'party' i'm going dressed up as the Slenderman  :lol:

Can't wait for the reactions as they see me in the corner and moving around the room just appearing at places. :D

My all time favorite halloween costume is a sloth. Went to a party where a girl took an hour to climb down from on top of an icebox.
