Title: Damage of the hit
Post by: DonNicko on September 21, 2013, 10:56:47 pm
Today I watched a film about one-handed and two-handed weapons. And know what? I understood that two-handed weapon makes damage in 2.25 times more than one-handed. It's just for discussion about realism. In our game two-handed weapon makes damage in 1.3 times more than one-handed.)

1.) no sources
2.) subjective information
3.) incorrect information (2h damage is not 1.3x more than 1h)
4.) buff 2h

1.)some obvious proofs even from our daily life
2.) even more subjective information & no sources also

please enlighten me on all of your proofs of this information, as well as the sources "cuz its truth actually."

My information wasn't subjective besides my disapproval in buffing 2h. I don't know why you think I need sources for this information but ok, I'll give you it. I'll be comparing these weapons by closeness in price range, I don't know how else to compare them since OP didn't give any parameters. Admittedly many 2h weapons within the same price range of one-handers have around 1.3x more damage but that's a very rough rounding. i.e., Great Axe and Arabian Cavalry Sword, War Hammer and Great Maul, 1.4x damage increase. War Axe and Flanged Mace, 1.8% damage increase (though flanged mace is blunt). Bastard Sword and Liuyedao, Broad One Headed Battle Axe and Two Handed Sword, 1.1x damage increase. Arabian Guard Sword and Persian Battle Axe, 1.5x damage increase. Military Cleaver and Heavy Bastard Sword, 1.02% damage increase.

If we go by real life, a two-handed thrust should not give a bigger reach bonus than a one-handed thrust, and heavy plate should make almost all cut weapons useless.

Plus there's all sorts of silly tricks like wiggling your stabs, point blank polearm stabs, and hiltslashing.

as you already noticed english isnt my native language so I dont want try to explain it as good as I can cuz of high chance of fail.
just one example is physics in our world. with hit by wooden pole in one hand u will give less Joules to the target than if you will hit by the same pole the same target but with two hands.

u are failing at examples of weapons. Axes are SUPPOSED to make hard dmg. 1h axes hurts also and they have about same dmg as fast 2hs. they are slower than those fast 2h swords but they are much faster then axes.
same with 2h mauls and 1h hammers.
the things is all of your examples of high dmg weapons are unbalanced weapons what makes them harder to use then that 1h what u was talking about. 1hs are also longer and most of them are faster then high dmg 2hs. specific types of dmg makes 1h same deadly as 2h if you remember that 1hs are supposed to be used with shield which can save u in the battle.
I am agree with all nerfs for extremly fast weapons because agi builds with ultra fast weapons(or even with slow ones) makes mod much worse than it is or it was before

plates in crpg are totaly broken. nothing glances nowdays. only if you are failing at your swings it does.

And two handed weapons are x2.0 faster than their normal speed. Let's not forget that.
