Title: shogun 2 units are pussies.

me: `prepares a complicated forest ambush made up of ashigarus and a few samurai units`

`sends them to attack`

`30 seconds later when fighting matched force of yari ashigarus`

OUR MEN ARE RUNNING FROM THE BATTLE! SHAMEFUL DISPLAY!!!!

me: wtf are u doing go back you my old friends!!
`another 3 units where just a few men were killed routs`

i mean, is this normal? wtf am i doing wrong? i absolutely pwned in medieval 2 on hard, but my units are scared shitless even with general close!

If i were a unit under your command, i'll probably also rout and desert.

On another note, i haven't had any "big" moral problems in STW2, especially not samourais.
I also believe no army routs after loosing "just a few men". Probably an underestimation from your part.
Lastly, general being "close" doesn't do much, BUT, he has an active skill to actually push your troops to fight. Use it in the right situations.

Loss of moral comes from :
- a lot more ennemies
- units under fire
- units loosing in combat against another unit
- unit being flanked/attacked in the rear

Consider ashigarus have pretty low moral too, so it's normal. There's also an easy tech in the war tree to give +1 moral, might be usefull.

figures it was because the units were all low level, they actually put up a quite good fight now.

battles are still terribly short though.

naah, it is alright now, figures that enemy had higher quality troops, hence the morale drops and and losses. it really happens rarely now that i conquered half of japan and upgraded prectically everything i could.

still i wish battles were like in medieval 2, where troops routed only after taking more than 3/4 losses. the fights were also longer.

kinda sad that you wont be able to enjoy those awesome combat interactions, because the fights are so damn short.

many mods are not compatible with current version, not to mention most mods add units or reskin them. i want change of battle mechanics. most of those mods are either pretty old and buggy, or downright not compatible.

so please ease up.

oh sorry, i thought that's how people communicate with each other around here. where are you looking for these outdated incompatible mods? if it's not Total War Center forums, it should be. plenty to choose from, including only gameplay changing and nothing to do with visuals, although there are some very good recolor mods you should look into, as well as unit variety type stuff and just really too many to mention.
