I'm going to counter Johammeth's argument, because it makes my eyelids twitch when I read 5x or hear it.

I read it by what it says in game...

I say "times five" so it feels more natural to put the "x" infront.

I think x5, 5x,  and times five are all acceptable. I usually tend to say ex 5. I just hate when people say "times it by". Pet peeve
