The reason of empty servers is; everyone wants to be the champion and they believe there is something wrong with the game every time they die.

Due to the shitty score system, lots of players get bored grinding and stop playing (I play less often than before, I'm fed up of grinding...). The thing is: I can have x5 income if my team wins 5 matches in a row...Why? This ain't a "Teamplay-game" only Strategus battles are.
What I mean is, all those players that have have high scores in a battle, why shouldn't they be rewarded?
For example: One guy kills 4 and with 35 score in a round, but his team loses > consequently, he doesn't earn any bonus. WHY? Next battle, he earns an awsome score and his team wins > He earns bonus of x2 and the players of his team that didn't do jack sh*t. WHY? Isn't this shitty?
This system is Bullshit: Those who fight very well wont earn any reward unless his team wins? What the f**k!? Which other game works that way? I don't know anyone.
There is the valour system though

Valour ?
That would be too easy as an answer. No matter how true. Although Valour is even more retarded than the whole Multi system in itself.

Stupid thread. Threads like this let games die because people read this shit and feel like it had any truth though it's complete bullshit.

Create a thread like this in a forum to a game in a beta and ppl will think the game was dead. People are stupid, stop trying to manipulate them.

Who are you anyway?

People leave because it's boring to play the same game for a few years straight, they take a little break and then they come back...

Mike, cRPG player numbers have been very slowly falling since way before you started playing.

Well, it's an old mod for an old game by now. I'm pretty impressed we still have the player numbers we have.

I like how the game has score now (because the kills and death of old couldn't show who did well as support players), but I have to admit that it's a bit flawed. For instance being a shielder on a map with a bridge is almost free points. No-one really cares because it doesn't bring a reward, so I rarely get called a shieldwhore.

Valor does better imo.

Its hard to pinpoint exactly what makes the game get less popular, its probably a whole bunch of factors. There are big artificial limiters for new players as well as experience/skill. Levelling to a decent level probably takes too long, you start with no looms. Looms are too strong imo with no drawbacks. +10 body armour after retiring like 6 times is a long journey and can be gruelling if you make it your goal. I bet people lose interest levelling up before they even get +3 gloves and body

So they are levelling up a low character for a lot of their time, they have undergeared guys and they suck at the game. They might try playing ranged but will lose interest as the game's strengths lie in its melee mechanics. If newbies want to shoot stuff there is no real reason to do it here rather than anywhere else unless you have a bow fetish.

Old players will get bored of any game. Without new guys to replace them the game will slowly die out. Its important to look at specifics as to why people leave though too. A large % come for melee mechanics and the game devs seem to want to have people standing around holding shields. The game gets very boring sometimes, and a boring game will not retain players

About the scoring/reward system. I think its pretty good. If you reward the losing team too much people will learn to play more selfishly. Right now you have to make your team win. Doesn't even matter if you get 100 points in a round if you don't make your team win, you should perhaps get a chance of valour, but you still didn't do enough so just take it on the chin and try again next round.

It is an old game after all... Hard to expect many new players at this point.

Besides, cRPG forum is a much more interesting game. Here is some good old forum spam:

That is about 3-10 "+" material right there, i will level up in no time! See, that is why you are a peasant with 1 renown, and i am a fuckin' Marshall. And if you post cats and bouncy tits, it's like an x4 multiplies to your "+"'s! A photoshopped picture of a developer is a forum valour

I'd give you a time machine so you could go back to 2010. Then you would cry even more and cut yourself. Today is easy mode.

I can't manage more than 5 consecutive rounds with my main on eu 1 because of ranged. If I try playing, I just end up rejoining with my 1h cav and go for the ranged that targets me or annoys me, since I can never get my revenge as a pikeman. :D

+'ed

i dont 100% agree but i like that you do the post despite what you prolly knew was gonna happen.

the world is in great need of ppl like you and me buddy :)

and yes, the mod have lost a great deal of players. why? im not so sure why, i just know its a fact.

we are in terrible need of new blood. but problem is that new blood cba playing cus its either too unfair they are getting constantly pwned (banner balance?) or you could be right its cus the ppl who would find this mod interesting cba playing it due to the score system... dunno.

personally i blame banner balance on FFA servers (not in strat i see the point with it in strat)

notice the cool rules popup when you log on

notice the frikkin awesome amount of players?

i fear these poor guys have no idea about banner balance and what it is and in what magnitude its used.

Isnt the beginning of the end technically the moment something is created?

Woooooooooooooooooooooooo, it's official, mod dies in September 2013, OP is genius, woooooooooooooooo, crpg never recovered despite the seasonal downturns and influxes of players. More seriously though, the mod has always had seasonal variations, it's a slow time of year, lots of new games have come out, for me M;BG has stolen the attention for me from the crpg mod.

As long as there are players in this mod that i can beat, then there are without a doubt new players and scrubs joining this mod daily. The last time i played i got kills, therefore there is new blood. Including some scrub who thought he could out-troll me, he was sorely mistaken. These are the signs of a healthy, living mod. No amount of tryhard agi-faggots can take that away from us, even if you give them even more levels and agility.

??????????? Are you mad bro? You totally missunderstood the point and now you start raging and being disrespectful with others? I bet you haven't even read the update. For such cunt behaviour I wont explain yee :)

The reason is that both the game and mod are old. A lot of people have just moved on and are playing some new game. Not because cRPG sucks or anything, but people get bored of a game.
