Title: 2h cav
Post by: Glyph on September 07, 2013, 01:19:44 pm
I'm thinking of going 2h cav, but have no info on what the penalties are for using a 2h in onhanded mode/on horseback. I could really find anything on the forums but that could just be me. If anyone could give me advise on builds, please do.

Thx

I'm to lazy to make a precise build , but id recommend something like:
24/15
(8IF)your choice.
8PS
5ATH
5RIDING
(5WM)Your choice.
You can switch Ironflesh Weapon Master to your liking , don't get a shield because that would make the weapons require 1h WPP instead of 2h WPP.

Thx! Do you happen to know what the penalties are concerning weapon speed and damage for using a 2hander on hb?

I believe it has a -25 % to damage and to speed , but don't let that demoralise you you will still do alot of damage if you take a good weapon!

Morningstar XD
I'm contemplating whether to use a morningstar
I guess I'll try it with my 1handed cav first.

You don't really need any WM, speed bonus is what gets you kills. Morningstar is ok but the length is so short, I generally us a longsword since its the longest 2hand you can use mounted.

Im 21/18 and have this for skills

Athletics:6
Riding:6
Iron Flesh:4
Power Strike:7

I have athletics so I am not completely slow and useless when I am forced to be on foot.

Shortened Military Scythe is longer. Too damn slow though.

Wouldn't an Arabian Cavalry Sword outdo a Longsword in every respect? Faster, more damage, and you can use it with a shield while unmounted without penalty.

I am partial to the Vaegir look; mounted Bardiche.

2H Cavalry is rather expensive but its easier to play than a 1h cav, as a 2h cavalry you will need a heavy horse, heavy armour , and a heavy weapon, which will one shot your enemies.Well lets take a look at pros and cons of 1h cav and 2h cav (for beginners ofc) ;

2h cav ;

Pros

-Easy to land hits.
-Effective as infantry. (Tanky)
-Fun ( :P )
-Can 1 hit enemies easily.

Cons

-Expensive
-Slow
-Easy target for ranged shots.

1h cav ;

Pros

-Fast hitting.
-Can use light equipment.
-Has a shield, hard target for other cavs and ranged.

Cons
-May not be able to hit the enemy.
-May not 1 hit the enemy.
-Not so tanky , most dies when got dismounted.
-If the shield breaks down, pure 1her is easy target.
-Archers will probably focus the horse.

Well as i said, this is for beginners. I started the game as a 2h cav, and i can honestly say I had most fun then , I just checked , if you use a 1h/2h weapon on horseback , the damage and speed penalty will be less than using a 2h weapon. So I definetly suggest you using a Morningstar. And as an experienced player, please get at least a practice shield :D For builds you can ask 2h cav experts ; Latvian , Necromancien for EU, Sir_Firebus for NA. If you ask me , i would suggest 21-15 build , 7 IF 7 PS 5 ATH 5 RIDING 5 WM.

Thx for reading :P

Kratos is right. İ think 24/15 is is the best for 2h cav.Use destrier and long sword or morninstar.
