Title: Add a punching glove
Post by: MURDERTRON on September 02, 2013, 03:52:51 am
So, everyone likes punching.  It's a pretty fun way to mess around.  People keep saying you should add a punching skill or whatever crap.  Clearly that's not a high priority.  But, you could satisfy some people by adding a glove that has very high weight, not particularly good armor and a somewhat high cost, to allow people to do some damage with their punches.  You could call it a Cestus, or a brass knuckle, knuckleduster or whatever.  Just make sure it has more weight than the Heavy Gauntlet, less defense and costs more.

Don't listen to the godawful music in this video, but this suggestion made me think of fallout! Fuck a punching glove, what we need are power fists

It could be like those metal knuckles you get in assassins creed 2. It probably wouldn't be too hard to model....

I think the point of this suggestion matey was to have something heavier than the heavy gauntlets but with less protection. Now that I think about it anything heavier than the gauntlets might be OP.

Say you made it 3 weight and only something like 2 def, it will severely limit your wpf when using weapons, since hand armor weight is multiplied by 3.  Also it will slow you down a pretty decent amount while only offering trivial protection or maybe even none at all,  clearly you couldn't wear any other gloves at the same time, so they are basically negative protection.  Also you can't block, unless you have a shield which is only going to slow you down even more.

I mean the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages, and a rondel dagger would be better in almost any situation.

I demand Wolverine claws. No block, little armour value but like 30cut with each slash. And high buying price and upkeep.

Well, you can't have either of those because we would just be piggybacking an already existing mechanic and just adding an item that only has 3 stats: weight, defense and cost.
