Horses should take damage for bumping people.
-
i believe the idea has already been discussed many times a while ago
and it went like this :
inf saying in a chuck norris way :
-horse dont bump me, i bump horse
cav answering : FU , be aware and buy pike
-
Let me put it this way:
If you don't get out of the way when I patiently wait for you to do so, than I deserve to trample your ass up.

Sorry to say vic but, its realistic that a horse doesnt really take damage. Imagine you are some big dude. Now imagine further you want to run from A to B in the shortest possible way. It so happens that a stupid cat is standing on the way but you don't care.
Kapow the cat is gone and you reached point B.
-
No, just no.
-
In single player didn't your horse take damage for trampling people though?
-
Nope, even though the trampling did not do as much damage as in crpg
-
Vic alway trying to nerf me loool
-
I can see it being realistic that horses take SOME damage if they ran into a tin can man-at-arms (some bruising and such). Contrary to popular opinion, I am all for adding realism to the game.
HOWEVER, I would only agree with this if horse trampling was also adjusted to be more realistic...that is, potentially fatal. Every time you are bumped by a horse and actually knocked down, there should be a 25% chance of a 1,500lb hoof landing on a vital organ.
Until then, I vote no. :)

Horses that are not trained for war should stop before bumping any obstacle.

Well, sometimes horses will jump over things, go around, stop, or bump into things. They can be pretty unpredictable if they aren't trained for such obstacles.
Someone should make a crpg realism mod. :) That would be fun. :)

Well, an adult doesn't take much damage when running over a 4 year old because of the difference in size and mass.
-
You might hurt your knees.

What if the four year old were covered in metal and holding a kitchen knife? You might get some cuts and bruises.
-
4 year old - 30-40 lbs
Adult male - 150-200 lbs
Horse - 1,000 - 2,000 lbs
The 4 year old is not a good analogy. More accurate would be a man running over a 4 month year old (about 10 lbs). Even a 4 month old covered in metal is not going to hurt you if you run one over...not any more than a scrape, which will take 0 hps away from you. You can take 60-70 scrapes and not be in danger of death. They don't even take 1 hp.
Why, oh why must we run over babies!!!

...No amount of words and arguments can stop these pathetic attempts to nerf horses... AGAIN.
-
Here I am thinking the light horses already take damage when running into people at speed.
Ooopsie.
Now that I've been proven wrong, time for killdozer...

That's just it... horses take damage while running people over because if the infantryman isn't a complete retard, he will thrust with his sword or something before the horse hits him. I've been taking damage sometimes while running people over, but other times I have not.
-
How about they start selling armors and shields with big dwarvenly spikes on them. That way if a horse wants to charge into us they get poked by our armor =P
If anything, a horse going at a very slow pace should not stun you but should merely push you out of the way. That way people doing very small circles around you and constantly stunning and slashing would not be such a viable option. They'd have to get a bit of speed if they want to stun slash you.
-
How about no
I run you down and you're wearing anything other than armour covered in spikes you're fecked
Anyway, horse bump does barely any damage on most horses people can afford to use, we just use it to piss off the enemy in 1 vs 1 situations
and if you take THAT way from cavalry, we'll be left with literally nothing -.-

Eh, I'm only bitching because the past three or four nights I've played there have been a few guys on horses with nothing but xbows. They bump, bump, shoot (and miss) and repeat repeatedly. Then if they're the last ones left they run. I kill their horses and they run, turn, shoot, run, run, run, run, and then run out of bolts. I swear, they've taken horse archery to a whole. nutha. level. (of bitchitude)
But I do think that the bump is OP every once in a while; like a few have said, it shouldn't knock you down at a slow trot :|
And in all honesty, I don't think cav as a class is OP. I thought after all the raging post-patch that they gave them back their manueverability(sp?) but they still seem kind of... idk, off to me. I dodge them a lot easier now. They still kill me eventually, it just takes a few more runs because they don't seem to be able to make sharp enough turns. Could just be the specific horses I've been running into lately, I don't have any riding skill so I don't really know.
-
1,500 lb horse+ hitting a 200lb human isnt going to hurt them in the slightest.
What I would like to see is caltrops to deter enemy horses!

yea we ride dressage horses to war...
I can imagine an epic cav charge stop 5 feet away from enemy lines!

ok for realism, so lets take away ninja jump slash from infantry and buff damage charge on my cataphract horse
(what's that i hear? take away lolturns of arabian horse? BITE ME)
Can't Tolerate all this horse bitchin'
-
oops double post --'
anyways...I believe all the hate seems to be redirected to horse archers now...
-
Viccy take my advice and equip an awlpike. It looks so short that most nooby horsemen don't see any danger from it. Until they are dead that is. I am cav myself, but I also enjoy going on foot when there is to many enemy cav, because its alot easier to kill cav from foot than on a horse.
Killing cav as cav is alot of skill and some luck. But on foot its just that you have to see the horse, and when he comes at you hes already dead. Ive seen people killing cav with 1h swords too.
Unless its 2 or more horses bumping you over and over in a quick cycle you can defeat or at least defend against it.
I doubt people stood up against horses like that in real life, they were just trampled.
Hoof to the head and dead.
-
well this might be possible if the horse bumps into a shiny tincan.
i say +1 for "trampling tincans causes some damage to horses"
-
Hail, whiners. You have weapons , right ? Swords, sabers, axes etc. Well, i think there should be a reasonable chance of your weapons breaking/getting stuck in the enemys' armor. No ? Ah, nevermind, i was just trying to be as biased and stupid as the topic creator.
If you get continuously bumped , especially by a horse xbowmen/ha and you can't do anything about it- you deserve it.
-
Let me clear something up:
I don't want cav nerfed.
And I said earlier:
Eh, I'm only bitching because BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH... the past three or four nights I've played there have been a few guys on horses with nothing but xbows.
I was on the NA howevermanyman server and it was some strange cav fest that I didn't get a memo for. It was a map rotation with a fair amount of fieldish maps and there were four guys on horses running some kind of xbow gang bang, in addition to the regular 3-4 HA's and other cav. So I was literally bumped to death because I couldn't stand up long enough to walk or shoot or even switch to my melee and cut a bitch. I can just about one-shot every unarmored horse with a good overhead swing. I really have no problem with cav as a class.
POINT IS:
I don't feel like arguing a point if the majority of the cRPG community disagrees, especially when it's over something as minor as horses taking damage. So feel free to drop it (unless you want to post and agree with me )

lol pwned
and I really doubt cav would take dmg, especialy armored Cav.
-
It's somehow even a reliev when you finally die to bumps and don't have to watch the ineptitude of 5 people unable to hit just once with their lance.
